MY VIEW:CARDIFF WERE LOOKING TO WIN 3 GAMES ON THE BOUNCE / BUT IT WAS NOT TO BE & GET A TOUGH DRAW AWAY AT ALBION.

City rode their luck and thankfully Albions awful finishing helped the Bluebirds to a 0-0 draw.

By the end it was Cardiff backs to the walks and the whole team in the penalty area defending.

But a point away is always good and good defending by City.

My Man of the Match Goalie Alnwick after making save after save and saving City from a hammering.
The good news for Cardiff was Albion have scored the least amount of goals at home out of 92 Clubs.

NO HURRY AT ALL TO APPOINT RIZA AS HE IS TIED TO CITY TILL MAY 2025
The City Hierarchy have stopped looking anyway.

A draw away is good after 2 home wins and as long as City win at home next Saturday v Norwich City will climb up the table where they are currently 5th from bottom.

Very exciting 1st half, with Albion looking more likely to score.
Albion 11 shots / City 3 shots.

Both Clubs have played 3 games in 7 days.

WBA HAD NOT WON FOR 5 GAMES:
3pts from their last 15pts

WBA home record ranked 19th in the division.

Before today: No team in the Championship had gained as many points as Cardiff in October, where as Albion are the reverse.

FIRST-HALF:Paddy McNair Albion lost him after just 3mins through injury.
For 20mins it was end to end and lively from both sides. Albion edging it with Alnwick making some good saves.

It had been an enjoyable game and good play from both sides this half.

39min: Off the ball incident saw Perry NG and Maja receive yellow cards.

Exciting half from both clubs, Albion finishing the stronger and looked like scoring, but thanks to great saves by Alnwick stayed 0-0.

Alnwick made numerous good saves.

SECOND-HALF: Alnwick called in to action immediately and another great save.

62mins: El Ghazi replaced by Meite
Turnbull replaced by Siopis

68th Callum Robinson replaced by Kanga.

Alnwick continued to make save after save.

City looked to be defending.

77th: Tanner replaced by Bagan
Rubin replaced by Willock

Albion were by far the better team this half.

BBC

West Bromwich Albion’s winless run stretched to six games as they were held to a goalless draw at home by Cardiff City.
The hosts missed several chances in an open first half, while Cardiff’s former Baggies forward Callum Robinson headed against the crossbar.

West Brom kept applying pressure after the break, with Grady Diangana’s curling left-footed shot brilliantly saved by Jak Alnwick and Josh Maja heading straight at the Cardiff goalkeeper.
The Baggies drop one place to fifth in the Championship table, while Cardiff move down one to 20th.
For Carlos Corberan, this was a frustrating way to celebrate his two-year anniversary as West Brom boss, a considerable milestone considering that, since 2000, only Tony Mowbray and Gary Megson have managed to go into a third year in charge at The Hawthorns.

As for Cardiff interim manager Omer Riza, this creditable result took his points tally to 11 points from his six games in charge to boost his chances of getting the job permanently.

Well deserved point with a bit of composure could and should have won it.... wba may have had all the pressure but created few good chances

The bench isn't very deep.

The Serious Fraud Squad need to have a look at the Kanga deal.....Something wrong there. I can't recall a player so out of his depth, not sure why Riza believes he is an option

A good away point against a team much higher up than us, feels a bit like we should have got more but could also have lost it.

Good point for Riza, although I don’t think it strengthened his claim to stay on, it just hasn’t damaged it either

So ifwon it would enhance his chances lose it would have dented his chances? :o

Defensively we have depth. Daland fish bagan all quality options. Sio is quality and rino won’t let us down

The problem arise when we look at kanga and meite. But you can’t blame Riza with that. He’s picking what he has available. Personal id be putting Reindorf in but we don’t see him in training. Maybe riza doesn’t think he’s ready yet.

Excellent point away could have nicked it....my one critism of Omar is persisting with including meite....he had a chance to shoot and win it and passed and gave away....much prefer a youth player

I thought we defender really well and coul;d havesnatched it in the end.

Alnwick awesome in goal and matched by O'Dowda defending. Referee seems to give everything to Albion which was annoying and frustrating for the the team.

I think all of us would have taken a 0-0 at kick off so we should be happy with that.

Pretty much, I think with some positive results in the coming games it’ll prove to be a good point. However if we don’t get more in the coming games, looking back on this point would be seen as 2 points dropped given their fitness problems.

Not my opinion on his performance, but my opinion on what the board will think. Imagine they have a number of points they expect over the coming games and if he hits it he will get the job. The performance was ok. The last 2 have been great and this was just ok

They definitely had the best of the play but we had the better chances, with a little composure we’d have nicked it. In my opinion we looked a little jaded today, the press was a little slow meaning we didn’t get the ball back high enough up field to get Rubin involved, in part to why he had a quiet game today. A good point away from home, now with games coming thick and fast, recovery is going to be key as we don’t have a massive squad.

Alnwick outstanding, worthy of the three points.

Cardiff interim manager Omer Riza, this creditable result took his points tally to 11 from his six games at the helm to boost his chances of getting the job permanently.

Riza is now unbeaten in five matches and, although Corberan’s Baggies have closed the gap on the automatic promotion spots to three points, they will be concerned with a fourth successive draw and a fourth game in five in which they have failed to score.

Long may this run continue, thought though we lacked ideas after 50minutes and we have a weak bench. Omer should stay as interim manager till Jan.

Interim Manager Omer Riza/

“It’s a great point.”

“We knew today was going to be really difficult. It’s a tough place to come.”

“Carlos [Corberan] and his staff have assembled a really good, resilient side.”

“We knew we’d have our moments and we created enough opportunities to score a goal, but we weren’t clinical enough.@

“We had to defend really well to get a clean sheet, credit to the boys. It was a different mentality today. Clean sheets are really important. The boys were brilliant.”
