" That was a brilliant result and defensive performance "

We should value this point highly.

West Brom may have been on a winless run but they have some quality players and will almost certainly be in the top six.

Defensively we were outstanding.

Alnwick made several decent saves, mostly from range because our defensive unit were so good.

Chambers my MOTM, by far his best game for us.

A very very good result, fair play to Riza

Excellent gritty performance. A few weeks ago we lost to derby and were dead and buried. Now we can play with quick accurate fluency in attack or defend like our lives depend on it. It’s a massive turn around

Yeah was a great defensive performance, just annoyed that with a bit of quality we could have easily won it.

Most fans would have been delighted with a point pre kick off, especially after that.

I’ve been critical of Riza from the start thought this was a real test and fair dues they came threw with a point I’m slowly starting to think ok maybe he deserves the chance until the end of the season or maybe give him month to month contract to keep him honest but today I’m starting to think yeh maybe

I shudder to think how that game would have gone had Bulut been in charge. :o

And in fairness you have to say that since Purse stepped up to first team coaching duties the defence has improved incredibly.

That's four clean sheets in the last five games and when you think of what went before it that's a massive improvement.
.
Well done to all concerned.

Riza a candidate for manager of the month?

You mean Alnwick was brilliant and stopped us getting a hiding

The most noticeable difference for me has been the speed with which we go from defence to attack & move the ball from our area to theirs, it was so slow when Bulut was in charge that the opposition had time to regroup every time, but not now.

Alnwick made one top quality save, the rest were routine saves.

The rest of the squad put their bodies on the line by blocking shots and forcing West Brom back with clearances.

So no, I don't mean that.

Before Bult was sacked I would have expected a defeat today but I actually expected us to get something out of the game. Maybe the growing confidence of the team is rubbing off on us fans.

The lads are definitely giving him everything, he seems to know what he is doing, great recipe. :thumbright:

And another clean sheet - three on the bounce now.

Yeah, Chambers had his best game for us after some stick.

Undefeated in 5, 1 goal conceded.

We simply HAD to stop the free flow of goals against us.

I'm ok with that point today.

That was a point that we couldn't have got before Riza, and a point that we should be very happy with.

Away from home, with a less than desirable away record, against a team that will be either in or around the play offs.

We could have won it, sure, but if you wouldn't have been happy with a point before the game then you need to get a grip.

Funny old thing, we had a much better defence under Bulut, now we have a much better first 11 with a rubbish forward bench

The defense that had us at -14 goal difference?

Clearly on a wind up.

Yeah a bit of a silly post for all to see.

I thing the main reason we have a beeter goal diffence is the fact we are more of an attacking team forcing our opponents to defend. Under Bulut our opponents were allowed to press us up front putting pressure on us. We all know the outsome of that.

Corrected myself, we all make mistakes.

I meant the bench was better, but that was because we didn’t play our best 11. The defensive bench is packed with options, going forward other than Willock we are very limited
