ITS PAY ON THE DAY

“ FULL INJURY UPDATE “

Omer Riza:

"Rambo (Aaron Ramsey), he is working towards getting himself back in contention within the next three, four, five weeks.
“He won’t be playing for Wales.”

(Ryotaro) Tsunoda is training now. He has done a lot of work with the S&C. He might come back into the group, with the under-21s and looking strong.”

"Rallsy (Joe Ralls) is in a good place. He is on the pitch, running and looking hard - he could be in and around the Blackburn game - we won't push him.

"Callum Robinson has got a slight little knock on his Achilles at the moment so we are monitoring that. He could potentially be a doubt. A lot of the boys are in good form at the moment so you don't want to lose players. Cal has been integral and I hope he's OK.

“Kion is another week closer.”

TEAM NEWS:

Johannes Hoff Thorup will weigh up whether Norwich City stand any chance of appealing Kenny McLean's red card that marred a stirring 3-3 Championship comeback against Middlesbrough on Sunday.

McLean is facing a three-game ban after a straight red card for scything down Hayden Hackney in the 87th minute of a pulsating Carrow Road encounter.

Thorup was planning to view footage of the incident before deciding whether City try to get McLean's dismissal overturned.

Norwich were successful in appealing Borja Sainz's red card in the away fixture on Teesside last season.

"To lose Kenny for three game sis not good for us. Of course there are moments in the game where I'm also supporting the team in yellow out there. So maybe I see it from that perspective. I don’t want to blame referees, but I think from my position it was soft," said Thorup.

"And now, of course, we have to deal with it for three games, which is a big one based on that call. We have to watch it back and if we think there is a possibility for us (to appeal) we will consider it. It's three games we have to play without Kenny.

"So if we think it's too soft, and we can do something about it, we must look into that. But, like I said, I haven't seen it.

"He's an important player, just the way that he can dictate the game from that central position where he can bring us up the field, the way that he can start pressing for us and get all the boys going, and so on. He's so important for us."

I watched the Norwich v Middlesborough game, cracking game ending in a 3-3 draw.

After the 1st half I though we are going to stick 5 against them. They went into the interval 1-3 down and look very weak at the back. Then they gave away a penalty hald way through the 2nd half as Middlesborough continued to counter attack from Norwich forced. Boro missed the penalty and Norwich got back into the game.

Norwich have a dangerous attack force and we will need to watch out for Sainz. He scored 2 cracking goals and he is their danger man. However, if we can get at them using the speed we have we could quite easily get a result.

Thanks for the Report Ian.

I believe we can beat them at home, if it was their place, I would be worried.

Be interesting to see how Chambers does at right back.

Hes looked weak there previously, for example when he was playing there for Arsenal.

Hes looked a lot better these past few games, so hopefully the initial jitters were due to lack of fitness.

Re: TEAM NEWS: " CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY " MATCH THREAD

Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup believes Borja Sainz's desire to improve is the key to his brilliant start to the season.

The Spaniard scored twice in Sunday's 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough, taking his goals tally for the season to 11 from 14 appearances.

It has made the 23-year-old one of most talked-about players outside the Premier League.

"For him to execute, it's about quality, but he is training every day on his finishing," Thorup told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We had three games in seven days but he's always there to do a little bit extra and it's up to me and the performance staff to pull him in. That's what it takes to be up there and he can see the benefits of doing that.

"What we can do as a team is create some patterns so he gets into these positions and then, of course, high quality from him when he can execute like that."

Sainz beat Boro keeper Seny Dieng from a central position 25 yards from goal in the first half and then, after missing a much easier chance in the second, he cut in from the left and produced an unstoppable effort into the far corner.

Having begun his career in his home country with Alaves, Sainz had a spell in Turkish football with Giresunspor before joining the Canaries in the summer of 2023.

Norwich had to come from 3-1 down to earn a point against Middlesbrough, having overcome another two-goal deficit to draw with Preston in their previous game, in which Sainz also scored.

"It's good (to be top scorer), but the most important thing is the team," he said.

"I am so happy here with the team and the staff and I work every day to stay like this."

The result meant Norwich continued their 11-month unbeaten run in home games.

Their next match is away to Cardiff City on Saturday as they look to climb into the top six from their current position of eighth.

Norwich City have decided not to appeal against Kenny McLean's red card from Sunday's manic 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough.

The Canaries' captain was shown a straight red card for serious foul play after scything down Hayden Hackney in the 87th minute as they pushed for a winner to complete an incredible second-half comeback at Carrow Road.

That dismissal saw City settle for a point, and Johannes Hoff Thorup confirmed post-match that he would review the footage before considering whether there were substantial grounds for an appeal.

After concluding that process, City have elected against forming an appeal to the FA about referee James Bell's decision with the deadline of 1pm on Monday having passed.

McLean will now serve a three-game ban, starting against Cardiff on Saturday. It will sideline him for upcoming matches away to Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City at home prior to the November international break.

Norwich City winger Christian Fassnacht has returned to training this week after a long-term injury, Johannes Hoff Thorup confirmed.

Norwich City have started the season well and sit in 8th place after 12 games.

The Canaries are unbeaten in their last seven games and are enjoying life under new head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup. The Dane has been without some key players in recent weeks too, including the influential Marcelino Nunez. The Chilean picked up a knock against Stoke City and has not featured since.

However, one man who is close to returning is winger Christian Fassnacht, who has been out since the first game of the season.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to Cardiff City, Thorup has provided an update on the Switzerland International. He confirmed Fassnacht has returned to the group and the same goes for winger Tony Springett.

Caution is being taken with the earlier mentioned Nunez with a return this weekend seemingly unlikely, while Angus Gunn and Ashley Barnes are also set to remain absent as they recover from injuries.

The Canaries head into Saturday’s fixture currently sitting eighth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

In the last six matches, the side have recorded ten points from 18points, a point behind Cardiff.

Their last three matches have all been draws, facing Stoke City, Preston North End and Middlesbrough.

Last time out against Boro, the contest ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw, with the Canaries coming back from 3-1 down to claim a point. With 87 minutes on the clock, midfielder Kenny McLean was sent off, meaning he will miss this weekend’s contest unless they appeal.

In terms of their away record, the side have amassed eight points from six matches, with their record on their travels ranking sixth in the division.
