Mark Harris and Oxford

Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:50 pm

Another game without a goal for him.

Looking more and more like he had a purple patch at the start of the season which has now ended.

I always said that reality would kick in for Oxford at some point and it has.

Eight games without a win and lost at home today to a Swansea team struggling for goals.

They are now below us in the table.

Didn't someone say that Harris would score more league goals than any of our players?

Well now Robinson has five and he has four.

I see your post as petty.

He would be in our team over Meite and Kangaroo no doubt.

Because he plays for someone else he’s ridiculed?

He’s in a team just promoted who were always going to struggle.

Your argument in the week was he'd scored more than any of our players. But that's not true anymore, is it?

Meite and Kanga didn't feature today so that's irrelevant.

We judge him against our first choice striker who has scored one more than him - despite playing two games less.

Season is 46 games not 13.

I said that and I’ll still take that bet.

Made jacks look like world beaters today. Injuries to wingers and midfielders are biting hard.

Harris missed a sitter again. Oxford have scored more goals than Cardiff.

So you are ONLY judging him on our first choice?

He is better than Meite and Kanga. He would be on our bench and more effective than those, yes?

I do not, and won’t understand your need to have a pop at him.

He’s better than what we have on the bench.

To be fair, Oxford were in a false position when they started so well.

But from the snippets I've seen (admittedly not much), I don't see them getting relegated.

They've got a good manager and a couple of right additions in January will see them comfortably stay up - there are four or five really poor teams in this league and they're not one of them.

But they will finish below us and Robinson will score more than Harris.

I’ll have that bet.

£5 on each of them? Charity of the others choice.

I'd be surprised if Oxford aren't struggling by the end of the season. Mark Harris is OK, but IMHO no more than a league 1 striker..

Completely devoid of confidence he is. Gave the ball away a couple of times when he came on as sub.

Still trying though.

Absolutely.

£10 wasn’t it. Harris scores more than any Cardiff player or is it the bet with Worcester?

From what I have seen Oxford are stronger than Cardiff.

Keeper is better, defence is better. Elliot Moore is superb and the lad from Leicester Nelson is miles above the championship, Brown is playing so well as well. Midfield once Brannagan is back and the wingers are back is better.

Meite and Kanga get nowhere near the oxford bench.

Main positive though is the manager.

I’ve had plenty of posts deleted because the posts didn’t agree with what they were saying, so your bet post will probably go missing

What exactly are you suggesting?

If you've had posts been deleted then explain in what thread and how many. I haven't deleted your posts I know that much.

But to suggest people have deleted your posts because we don't agree is wrong.

The only reasons posts are deleted is because they are abusive/insulting, inappropriate for the forum or people on a wind up.

Not really.

Annis recently posted on multiple threads about someone not responding to his comment, after he didn’t agree with an opinion, this was on the ‘Joel Colwill’ thread

I posted stating that Annis himself is also guilty of doing the same thing. He posted the topic of Tan Defacto Manager.

Many asked him questions there, but disagreed with what he was saying.

My post was not insulting, it was appropriate for the forum, but lo and behold it has been removed.

I hope this answers your question.

No but I will say that they were a bit unlucky not to get a point tonight.

Watford had a spell of putting a lot of pressure on but towards the end Oxford could easily have equalised. Watford's goal was a little fortunate that the ball rebounded straight back to their striker.

Harris had a chance late on that if it had dropped a tiny bit to where he was then he would have scored, ended up dropping in an awkward place which made the chance that much more difficult.

Changed my mind on him tonight. Get the feeling one goal will get him back scoring regularly. Can say that now I've actually watched him

Needs a goal so bad.

Not to make the comparison with Cardiff again but that tonight v Watford against city v Luton was like night and day.

I’d compare it more to the Norwich game when we were in the ascendancy and got the two goals to win.

Agree a little unfair but it certainly was a good comparison of what happened on the pitch.

I was thinking about away performances and chances created etc.

Oxford played Norwich first game of season and absolutely battered them and won 2-0
