Riza is optimistic that Cardiff can head into the international break in positive fashion, with a game against Blackburn Rovers looming on Saturday lunchtime. And the interim boss hopes to have Alex Robertson, who has missed the last two matches, available for the match.

They obviously don't know our record against teams that haven't won in a while then.

Always interesting to see the oppos comments before a game, often some interesting insights but now I've written I've probably jinxed it.

Blackburn hit with fresh blow as attacking absences pile up -

Tyrhys Dolan will miss Blackburn Rovers' trip to Cardiff City after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Stoke City.

The forward was a second-half substitute but was cautioned by the referee for dissent after a decision went against Rovers. That takes him over the threshold and he'll serve a one-game ban against the Bluebirds.

Dolan is the first player to hit that unwanted milestone. Lewis Travis, Todd Cantwell and Hayden Carter are also on the disciplinary tightrope, though the latter won't be back from injury until that 19-game cut-off has passed.

Omer Riza:

“ Blackburn Rovers “

"They play good football, quite similar to us in respect of how they try to create certain problems for the opposition, they create a box in midfield, but they do it differently," Omer began. "They’ve got a good attacking threat, but their form hasn’t been great as well, so it will be an interesting game.

"They come to us, and they'll want to try and get a result to get them out of the problem they’re in, and we want to win, so I suppose it will make for a good, attacking game, because they like to attack and we like to attack. Hopefully, we come out at the end of it on top.

"Our form has been good at home - I want it to be good away as well, which I think is important to push up the table and get to where we want to get to. It’s been good, and hopefully that can continue. The boys have got the bit between their teeth after yesterday’s game. We had a brief chat and they’ll be ready to go on Saturday."

: “I think the boys are a little bit disappointed. We didn’t play like we’ve played previously over the last three or four games, but we went there with the intention of winning the game, which is something in itself, that we’re going to a place like Luton, who were in the Premier League last year, to win the game.

"I’m a little bit deflated that we lost the game. We created opportunities, our playing out of the back and through the thirds against a man-for-man side, who are quite aggressive with that, I think the boys showed real bravery and intensity to do that. That for me is progression from where we started and where we’ve come from.

“I was really pleased with that because there were times when we opened them up and got on the backline really well. We just didn’t quite show the quality of the past games and it didn’t quite click for the final pass to be able to hurt them.

Omer Riza:

Not good for Davies, Ralls end of November and Ramsey.

"Alex Robertson will be back in the squad on Saturday. Joe Ralls probably could have been back, but we said we’d leave him until after the international break to get him ready. Kion Etete still needs that period of time to come back into the squad. Aaron Ramsey is a bit longer, Ryotaro Tsunoda has been training with the First Team now, but needs time to get in and around the First Team squad yet.

"It was good to see Kion get some time with the U21s; he got 45 minutes and a goal, which is good for him after such a long time out. We’ll see how he progresses.

"We think Isaak Davies will be ready in or after January. He’s had a setback and he’s working hard in the gym now. He’s a focused lad, so he’ll come through that and he’ll be a good asset when he’s back."

“Ramsey early December.”

I think we have quite a thin squad and nowhere near enough quality options up top.

It seems like CR47 is picking up niggles again which is worrying.

Surely we must have Reindorf at least named as a sub tomorrow?

Will be great to see Robertson back. I think we're due a goal from El Ghazi - a screamer would be good!

Need to he aggressive tomorrow from the get-go. Pin Blackburn back and make them uncomfortable.

Tough game coming up but great that they are without Dolan. He's always stood out for me when we've played them previously.

It's not a must win game but would love to see Riza get that bounce back win after Luton. If we get a maximum effort performance I reckon we'll do them.

It's a worry up top though, if Robinson doesn't make it we'll probably go with a false 9 again but what choice do we have.

Come on City!!!!!

We don't need a false 9 - it didn't work against Norwich. Rizla needs to get Reindorf out there if CR47 comes off.

Also, IMO this is absolutely a must win because we could drop back into the bottom 3. A defeat tomorrow would set us up for a worrying international break.

I think Ashford who must be well ahead in development terms is ahead of him full stop.

Its a huge step up from being released from Norwich U-18 to championship football. He has had one semi-development game against a (very good) Saints reserve team.

It's not football law to have a physical beast up top. They need to be able to play and then the physicality is a bonus.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ashford start today if Robbo is a doubt

Reindorf is scoring goals.
We're never going to know whether the lad can cut it in the Championship unless we try him out, even for the last 20 minutes.

However, he won't be there as played for the U21s again.

Really need to ‘go for it’ at home today, probably a ‘good time’ to be playing Blackburn. Essential to get three points today as we are again too close to the bottom three. Good luck today, will be watching on Sky in Tenby, ironically down here for the ‘Blues Festival’ :bluebird:

Cardiff with sustained possession but Blackburn cut out a pass and break rapidly. Ng cynically hauls down Travis but escapes a yellow.
