Cardiff City Owner Vincent Tan has been told to “jump in the

Cardiff City Owner Vincent Tan has been told to “jump in there” and appoint ex-Coventry City boss Mark Robins as the Bluebirds' permanent manager.

City have been without a permanent boss since Erol Bulut was sacked back in September. Bulut was axed just six games into the season, with the Bluebirds then sat bottom of the Championship table having picked up only one point.

Vincent Tan is expected to make his decision during the international break and is looking for an experienced manager so sources from the club are saying and it’s been tough to get one in.

Carlton Palmer: “No disrespect to Omer Riza, but when managers like Mark Robins become available you have to go for them if your club has ambition.”

Robins had been in charge of Coventry since taking over in 2017. Robins list of achievements would surely impress Tan, having guided Coventry from League Two to the Championship. He also led them to the play-off final in 2023, when they narrowly lost on penalties to Luton Town and embarked on an impressive cup run last term, which saw the Sky Blues reach the FA Cup semi-finals in which they were defeated by Manchester United.

When asked about the Bluebirds' managerial position, Palmer said: “The Cardiff City hierarchy need to make a decision soon. They have got to the international break and I am sure that Vincent Tan will make a decision shortly.

Carlton Palmer:

“What has thrown a spanner in the works is the fact that Mark Robins has now become available, I am absolutely gobsmacked that Mark Robins was relieved of his duties at Coventry City - it is unbelievable.

“It is an interesting one, it is a very important decision for the chairman, and he has got to make the right call on this one, but if you can get Mark Robins - no disrespect to Omer Riza, when Mark Robins becomame available you have to go for them if your club has ambition.”

but then that is what you have to do, you have to jump in there and get him.”

There are 3-4 really good managers available Annis, but now that Robins has lost his job he should be our No 1 target (if he wants to come to us of course) but knowing our football experts running the club they are probably serching the welsh league for our next manager.

These pundits really have no idea what Tan is like do they?

No point making any even half sensible suggestions for a new manager as Tan hasn't got a scooby do.

Paul,

We are both speaking from the same page, Our Hierarchy should be in talks already and bringing in either Robins or very similar.

Let’s finally see their true ambition.

David,

No they don’t but that’s mainly down to Our Local Media like Glen Williams praising Tan and Co.

Robins would be ideal.

He took Coventry from League Two to the Championship, amid all their financial and stadium problems. A penalty shootout away from the Premier League and a millimeter away from an FA Cup final.

Good at developing players. He signed Gyokeres for £1m and turned him into a world class striker who will probably go to Man Utd next summer for £80m+

Said before that I don't know whether he'd want to go straight back into management or take a break first.

But if he's available, he's the perfect candidate.

Exactly.

As I said in another tread it would be bordering on negligence if the club aren't looking into the possibilty of employing Mark Robins.

Trouble is if Robins has said he doesn't like the idea of working with a Director of Football he's unlikely to be too keen about working with a Dictator of Football which is what VT is!

Come on Tan, do the right thing for once and go get Robins :ayatollah:

Robins success at Coventery was entirely in partnership with his assistant Adi Viveash, a fomer coach with the Chelsea youngsters. The Coventry owner is blaming the sacking of Robins on the departure of Robins’ right-hand man this summer, Adi Viveash, after a breakdown in the pair’s relationship which has seen a significant deteriation in performance.

Robins may therefore be a bit of a gamble on his own and Coventry's poor form this season and surprise departure does raise some alarm bells

Carlton Palmer having an opinion of Mark Robins becoming Cardiff City manager would have been a very random dream a month ago.

Like I've said before, I cant see Vinnie giving anyone a longish term contract, and this maybe where the problems lie with a decent manager. Not that Omar is not decent, but you have to grab opportunities as they arise, ie: some of the good managers who are available at the moment.

Sign him up will be a good manager for us , he seems to get strikers in regularly for his clubs , which all our managers in the last few years apart form moore have failed .

I think apart from riza getting the job himself because he's actually done well. The last two games I thought we were poor got bullied at Luton and to slow at home .So riza now has to show he can bounce back which im enjoying BUT .
Mark Robbins is a sure bet isn't he and considering our league position probably the safest bet aswell.
The club isn't an attractive job anymore especially how it's run so will someone like him want the job.im not so sure

No for me. The present manager has more points except for Sunderland and Leeds , when he was appointed . If the new manager comes in, unless he wins every game we will demand he is sacked.

Nobody tells Tan what to do let alone the media. We all know this would be a good and popular appointment, but so would have been a whole list of managers down the years, and if Bellamy hadn't been bewildered and disappointed with the regime he may well our homegrown manager today. Instead Tan gave us Solskjaer, Slade, Trollope, Harris, Hudson, Morisson, Mick and Bulut, none of those were on the list of fans, media or betting companies. Riza is another one of these, Tan is desparate for Riza to succeed I reckon, he ticks all his boxes, cheap and no compo.

I couldn’t agree more; including that Tan desperately wants Riza to succeed… :ayatollah:

Don't think Robins will move to Cardiff.
