TEAM NEWS:

Omer Riza:

"We think Isaak Davies will be ready after January. He’s had a setback and he’s working hard in the gym now. He’s a focused lad, so he’ll come through that and he’ll be a good asset when he’s back."

“Ramsey early December.”

Omer Riza:
“ Alex Robertson “ Will be fit for Saturday.”

“Callum Robinson was carrying a slight injury and was against Luton.”

“Aaron Ramsey, he is working towards getting himself back in contention within the next three, four, five weeks.

(Ryotaro) Tsunoda is training now. He has done a lot of work with the S&C. He might come back into the group, with the under-21s and looking strong.”

"Rallsy (Joe Ralls) is in a good place. He is on the pitch, running and looking hard - he could be in and around the Sheffield Wednesday game, we won't push him.

“Kion Etete is back in full training and should be in contention for the Wednesday game.”

The international break is usually a pretty fruitless time for Sheffield Wednesday players, with very few getting callups to represent their country, but one Owls star could be set for a big opportunity this week.

Most of the Sheffield Wednesday squad will be putting in the hard work on the training ground over the next few days with Danny Rohl, in preparation for the crunch game against Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed, Rohl has big plans for his Sheffield Wednesday players this week and wants to really dig deep into that Steel City derby defeat before the international break.

But, there are a small handful of Sheffield Wednesday players on international duty during this period, and one of them has a huge chance to get a game on Tuesday.

Jamaica have a very familiar face in the dugout these days, with former England manager, Steve McLaren, now in charge there.

But, since his appointment in the summer, Owls defender Di’Shon Bernard has struggled to get game time, despite being a regular for his country prior to that.

In the group stages of the CONCACAF Nations League, Bernard was left on the bench against Cuba, and didn’t even make the matchday squad for the clashes with Honduras and Nicaragua. He did pick up 45 minutes against Honduras in a reverse fixture, though.

This week, Bernard was again left sitting on the bench as Jamaica fell to a 1-0 defeat against the USA in the quarter finals of the Nations League. However, his trip may not have been totally wasted, as there is an opening in McLaren’s next starting XI.

Cardiff to hammer them in a 'Pompy-esque' performance. Riza statue discussions re-ignited.

Sheffield Wednesday’s summer signing, Nathaniel Chalobah, stepped up his return to action for the Owls in a dramatic win on Monday.
The Owls took on Burnley at Middlewood Road as they looked to get back to winning ways after drawing 1-1 with Millwall in their last outing, and the 29-year-old was handed a starting berth by Andy Holdsworth for the latest stage of his comeback.

Chalobah has endured a difficult start to life with Wednesday since joining Danny Röhl’s ranks at the start of the campaign, and is yet to make his Championship debut in Owls colours after suffering an injury setback in August following their Carabao Cup win over Grimsby Town.

Akin Famewo one of three out for Sheffield Wednesday -

Rohl will be without three players for Saturday’s game, with Akin Famewo, Olaf Kobacki, and Michael Ihiekwi all out of action.

After suffering a muscle injury at the end of October, Famewo is expected to face a ‘big’ spell on the sidelines for the Owls.

Ihiekwi’s Achilles injury is taking longer than anticipated to heal up, and the defender is also likely to be out for a while still.

Meanwhile, Kobacki, one of Sheffield Wednesday’s summer signings, is set to be missing for the rest of the month, at least.

Sit on Bannan. I'd put Rhino on him.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Sheffield Wednesday’s Southampton loanee, Shea Charles.

Charles’ star is continuing to rise this season as he excels for both club and country since joining the Owls on a temporary basis, and he has earned himself lots of plaudits for his efforts at Hillsborough and in the colours of Northern Ireland - so much so that he was recently named as captain of Michael O’Neill’s side for their UEFA Nations League fixtures.

It’s no shock that the 21-year-old has caught the eye of clubs higher up the pyramid than Wednesday, however it possibly is a bit of a surprise that one of the Premier League’s title-chasers has got him on their radar at this point in time, especially considering that Southampton felt he wasn’t quite ready for the top-flight yet.

Sheffield Wednesday defender, Michael Ihiekwe, was pictured back in the thick of things at training ahead of the Owls’ game against Cardiff City this weekend.

Ihiekwe hasn’t made a matchday squad for the Owls since early October after suffering an injury that has kept him on the sidelines, but Danny Röhl confirmed recently that he was nearing a return to action after getting back out on the grass before the international break.

Now, with Cardiff’s Hillsborough visit just a couple of days away, photos showed him very much in the mix amongst his Wednesday teammates, suggesting that he could well be in contention for the clash against the Bluebirds - his last outing was the 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion, also on home soil.

Also spotted in Wednesday training was the returning Gabriel Otegbayo after he came back from international duty with Republic of Ireland’s U21s, as well as young Rio Shipston who has been handed the chance to work with the seniors after he came back from a recent injury and scored in the week against Burnley U21s. Jack Phillips, a teenage goalkeeper, was also there in the absence of James Beadle and Pierce Charles.
