MY VIEW:THE GAME WAS THEIR TO BE WON BY CARDIFF / BUT AFTER BEING OUT PLAYED AND CONTINUALLY GIVING THE BALL AWAY CITY SNATCHED A DRAW

I have to say for the 3rd game in a row under Riza our football was awful
And only 1pt from 9pts.

Before today Sheffield Wednesday and had Won 2 of their last 7games and the 2nd worst defence in the Championship

You could see Riza played for a draw.

Now 10 Games 15pts from 30pts

But now not winning games and football awful.

A point away is always good but the football is back to being dire.

Our Defence defended well and Riza will be happy.

FIRST-HALF: Cardiff were totally outplayed, but thanks to Wednesday’s awful finishing it was 1-1. Cardiff were awful.

First 20mins: It was all Wednesday, good job their finishing is awful.

Then 24th min, Colwill ball through to Tanner and a great save by the Wednesday keeper.

32mins: Robinson run, shot , saved and Tanner rebound 0-1 yes

34mins Wednesday opened Cardiff’s defence 1-1.

City could not keep possession in the 2nd half, awful.

60th min: Joe Ralls on / Joel Bagan on

Meite off and fuming mouthing at Riza as going off
And certainly told Riza
Robertson and Meite off

70th min:Siopis on Turbull off

83rd min: Robinson off Kanga on

It was all Wednesday.

We had a lot of tackles and the boys kept trying but it kinda looked like we had 9 men vs 11 in the second half. Dont have the players to change our style atm.

That’s 3 awful games of football and 1pt from 9pts in our recent run.

Yes a point away today is good, but football awful.

Odowda on the wing would change our style

I don't agree that we were completely outplayed. I think they edged it but didn't really threaten much. Draw seemed fair to me with us being away side.

Tanner easy man of match

Agree riza tactics played for a draw....

I've seen some awful performances over the years but that was one of the worst and luckiest games I've ever seen. Most other teams would have scored four or five Vs us. Thank god they didn't.

Sunday league standard at best yet by some miracle we come away with a point which I'm totally amazed at in truth.. We need a manger now and some of them players need to be arrested for fraud as they are impersonating professional footballers.

We desperately need better players through the door in January.

It's an away point. Take it move on. But I hate this total negativity towards Riza. This squad are poor. An experienced manager may do better but doubt we are any better than bottom half.

Two poor sides, weather didn't help but it was a shit performance by city.

Last 3 games have been very poor against 3 very poor teams 1 point from last 9 points available it’s time to stop hoping Riza is the answer he’s plainly not time to get a proper manager in when I say proper not a manager without manager experience like robbins Riza not for me see to many examples we playing the same way as when bulet was here

We played a poor side who Bannan apart, are of similar standard to city and should have won the game .
This was a good chance to get 3 points but we went into our shell after scoring and it seemed like a Bulut performance .
Worrying for the rest of the season as we definitely look a bottom 6 side

Watching today’s game I think a lot of the players are dry weather players.

i'd love to know the team running data, we have to be one of the least mobile teams in the league.

How long do we carry Colwill for?

Some posters saying he may worth 15 million a few back  I laughed at the time. There's a reason Bellany doesn't play him.

Thought he was poor no running poor decision making
This happens a lot its all well and good having tricks ect but that doesn't help team mates who don't get the pass they want.

we have about 5~8 really bad weather games a season, it wasn't the day for the showboaters it was a day for the dogs.

Ralls off injury and Sio traveling meant i;d have started Ronhomota on and pushed Robertson or Turnbull in the more advanced role.

I also belive at this level Colwill needs to be a deep lying playmaker he doesn't have the legs for his current role.

He certainly didn't look as if he could run more than 20yrds at a time..... lying deep is not going to work either because he won't be able to track opposition ... he as fundermental faults in his game that only occasionally don't appear in games today highlited those faults.

BBC WALES:

DOMINANT OWLS HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A DRAW

Dafydd Pritchard

BBC Sport Wales

Saturday 23rd November 2024

Sheffield Wednesday had to settle for a draw at home to Cardiff City despite dominating at a storm-swept Hillsborough.
Ollie Tanner scored on the rebound after a flowing first-half counter-attack to put Cardiff in front against the run of play, but their lead lasted only two minutes as Di’Shon Bernard slid in to convert Josh Windass’ cross.

The Owls continued to apply pressure after the interval, while Cardiff posed only a fleeting threat as Rubin Colwill’s free-kick was saved.

Wednesday substitute Callum Paterson had the chance to score a late winner against his former club but saw his shot blocked.
The result lifts Wednesday up to 14th in the Championship table and Cardiff up to 19th, albeit before Saturday’s 15:00 GMT kick-offs.

Wednesday have impressed and frustrated in equal measure during a mixed start to this season, and Danny Rohl’s side will have expected more than just one point given how they controlled long spells of this game.
Cardiff, meanwhile, have improved markedly under interim manager Omer Riza but are now winless in three having lost their last two games before this month’s international break.
They are also without victory away from home this season but, given the balance of play here, the Bluebirds will be content with a draw.

It took less than a minute for Wednesday to assert themselves on this encounter.
Striker Ike Ugbo, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Cardiff, is still without a league goal in this campaign but thought he had finally got off the mark after just 38 seconds here, only for his neat finish to be ruled out for offside.
The Canada international had another chance eight minutes later as Barry Bannan carved open the visitors’ defence with a delicate lofted pass to Max Lowe, who laid the ball off to Ugbo, but his shot was blocked by Dimitrios Goutas.
The home side were well on top and, after Tanner forced Wednesday keeper James Beadle into a smart low save, Bannan created another chance with an excellent ball over the top for Windass, whose lobbed effort landed on the roof of the net.
Cardiff punished Wednesday’s wastefulness with a clinical counter-attack. Callum O’Dowda started the move near his own penalty area and freed Callum Robinson down the left. The former Sheffield United forward beat Shea Charles and, although his shot was saved, Tanner followed up to convert from close range.
That lead lasted only two minutes as Windass’ low cross from the right was turned in by sliding centre-back Bernard.
An equaliser was the least Wednesday deserved and they were almost ahead shortly before half-time but Ugbo was denied by Cardiff keeper Jak Alnwick.

The hosts continued to control the game after the break but chances were rarer, with Windass limited to a long-range effort that swerved wide.

Colwill tested Beadle with a powerful free-kick and Tanner did the same from open play, though Cardiff were still on the back foot.

Wednesday had a few more opportunities as the final whistle loomed but their finishing remained wayward to allow their opponents to leave Yorkshire with a draw.

Wednesday dominated but created few genuine chances
Their goal would been disallowed if NG hadn't got in 1st as player was offside... shame we conceded so quickly after we scored because got to question whether they would have broke us down if gone on bit longer without scoring
