A forum for all things Cardiff City

We have seen over the years a few teams get relegated from the PL, spend a few seasons in the Championship and then go down to League One.
Some of them have been able to rebuild and go from League One to the PL relatively quickly, this happened to Wolves and Southampton.
Others have been stuck in League One for years.
On the other hand, some have been relegated from the PL and then spent a few years in the Championship before being back in the PL.
Obviously there are those that have spent many years in the Championship since PL relegation, that is us right now.
But what do you think will happen to us first - relegation to League One or promotion to the Premier League?
Right now I hate to say that I think we'll be in League One before we're back in the Premier League, if we even get back there anytime soon.
Sadly I actually thought it wouldn't be long before we were back in the Premier League after our last relegation, but that can't be said anymore.

Unfortunately Ned I believe it will be the latter as long as Tan and his cohorts run our club. They just move from one crisis to another and that will eventually catch up with us I am afraid.
It's quite sad when you actually analyse it. We have Tan, who knows nothing about football, Dalman (Tan's mouthpiece) who is equally as useless on football matters and Choo.......a car salesman!!!
Where is the football knowledge, expertise, nous and common sense thinking? It does not exist and quite frankly I'm surprised we haven't been relegated already. I hope I am wrong but just can't see any way forward at the moment with the clowns who are running our club.

Great question. We are far closer to relegation that promotion. This won’t change until we have new ownership and direction at the club.

Unfortunately relegation is the only answer to the question asked.
Those who went back up quickly had a few things in common.
Good manager, parachute payments spent on building the squad to go back up, and an understanding of football.
City for a long time have been Tans play toy. He keeps us afloat, sure, but at what cost?
He does not believe that football is different to business, that is evidenced by the board. No footballing knowledge whatsoever, and he is completely against a DoF who would point us in the right direction.
His ego is killing us as a club.
If, by any miracle, we DO get back to the PL, I hope he bites the bullet and sells up to limit his losses.

If things stay the same, I feel its a oneway route to league one. needs a good shake up all round, DOF would be a start. I like Riza but feel he's missing something?

My View:
If this Hierarchy stay, then we will eventually be relegated first.

Predicting Cardiff City’s future in football depends on several variables, such as their squad strength, financial stability, managerial appointments, and performances of other teams in the Championship. However, let’s analyze the current situation to gauge the likelihood of promotion versus relegation:
Promotion to the Premier League
• Cardiff City has a strong history of competing in the top two tiers of English football. They last played in the Premier League during the 2018–19 season.
• If they invest in quality players and have stable management, they could build a promotion-challenging squad. Teams like Luton Town and Brentford have shown that well-organized clubs can achieve promotion.
Relegation to League One
• Cardiff is currently a mid-to-lower-tier Championship side. Relegation battles have been a concern in recent seasons.
• If they fail to address squad depth, managerial consistency, or financial pressures, they could find themselves dragged into a relegation scrap.
Key Factors to Watch
• Ownership and Investment: Clubs with strong financial backing are more likely to push for promotion. If the ownership doesn’t invest, the threat of relegation looms larger.
• Managerial Stability: A capable manager can make all the difference. Constant managerial changes often lead to instability, which risks relegation.
• League Competition: The Championship is notoriously competitive, with both promotion and relegation threats constantly shifting.
Verdict
Currently, Cardiff City appears closer to stabilizing as a mid-table Championship side rather than pushing for promotion or facing relegation. However, without major investments or improvements, the risk of relegation might become more immediate. So, if no changes occur, relegation could happen before promotion.

As long as Tan and the two Ronnies are in the equation I believe Div 1 is about 85 percent and the Premier league 15 percent.

So is Chat GPT a replacement for Glen Williams? That's better than his reporting on City!

Haha Chat GPT is the future. Sadly, people that are naturally good writers are no longer able to stand out. The playing field has been levelled.
I’ll ask to write a match report, be right back.

Pretty good apart from the Mark McGuinness issue haha.
Match Report: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Cardiff City (23 November 2024)
Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough in a tightly contested Championship match. The result leaves Wednesday in 15th position and Cardiff struggling near the relegation zone.
Cardiff took the lead in the 34th minute through Ollie Tanner, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire past Cameron Dawson. However, Wednesday responded almost immediately, with Di’Shon Bernard heading in Josh Windass’s corner two minutes later to level the game.
The match saw both teams create chances but fail to convert them into goals. Wednesday dominated possession, with Barry Bannan orchestrating play in midfield, while Cardiff looked dangerous on the counterattack. Despite some late pressure from the home side, Cardiff’s defense, marshaled by Mark McGuinness, held firm.
This result highlighted Wednesday’s inconsistency as they aim to climb the table, while Cardiff, under interim manager Omer Riza, will feel they missed an opportunity to secure a valuable away win .

What I find amazing is a third of the people who have voted genuinely think we're more likely to be promoted before we're relegated

What a crazy situation, how can it happen, Tan will lose a small fortune how has he ever made any money in business before now, he looks clueless.
Mon Nov 25, 2024 6:07 pm
It all probably hinges on this next Manager appointment. Tan make your move, is it down and lose more money and take us down, or get a good Manager fr once and start the slow climb up, take us up sell, and reduce your losses?
Mon Nov 25, 2024 9:08 pm
Neither we will just keep finishing mid or above relegation we need somebody to run our club who nows what they are doing it’s as simple as that from bottom 2 top it’s crazy

That wasn't the question.
One thing will happen first, we will get relegated or promoted.
It wasn't a question about what will happen in the next five years, but what will happen first.
So neither isn't really an option.
