Club Connections

Ex Cardiff City manager Terry Yorath played for Coventry.

Craig Bellamy and Ben Turner are amongst the players to have played for both teams.

Rival Players

Jake Bidwell and Joel Latibeaudiere are both ex Swansea players.

Jay Dasilva used to play for Bristol City.

The Opposition's Manager

Frank Lampard is strongly rumoured to be the next Coventry manager.

But, at time of writing, Rhys Carr is the caretaker manager.

He has coached with us in the past and was previously manager of Pontypridd.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Ellis Simms has struggled for goals this season but scored 13 in the league last season.

Ben Sheaf and Josh Eccles are two very good midfielders.

Head To Head

We have won three of our last five against Coventry, with them winning one.

We won both games last season.

Coventry City: Collins, Van Ewijk, Latibeaudiere, Thomas, Binks, Dasilva, Sheaf, Eccles, Sakamoto, Torp, Bassette

Sadly agree with that.

Lampard expected to be confirmed today so Coventry will have a bit of a buzz because of that.

I'll be there and just hope we put in a half decent performance.

Oddly think they may get a result. But my head says they'll start quick and blow us away in 15 minutes.

Speaking in his first press conference with the Sky Blues' media team, Lampard said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be here, a club that I’ve got huge respect for in terms of its history and tradition.

"I grew up in eras where Coventry have been very successful. To be given the role of head coach is a huge deal for me, to come in and try and help with the good work and foundations I think have already been laid at the club.

Coventry's new era will begin this Saturday, with Lampard's opening fixture against Cardiff City, a side below the Sky Blues by just one point. A win would be the optimum start and would help begin to get the whole club looking up rather than down.

Ultimately, this season will likely be a case of securing a mid-table position unless the former Derby manager can get his side firing on all cylinders.

If he can, then it will prove a worthy appointment and King will be glad he took a chance on the 46-year-old.

Omer Riza:

“We are going to have to change our game plans.”

QPR targeted Cardiff danger men

Omer Riza says he had "first-hand information" that QPR targeted Rubin Colwill and Callum Robinson in order to stop the Bluebirds' attacking threat.

"The opposition aren't going to let you score goals. They are going to try to stop you," Riza said.

"I know for a fact that QPR were really focussed on stopping dangerous players like Rubin Colwill and Callum Robinson. I know that, because I had information on that first hand.”

“We are going to have to change our game plan.”

Coventry currently sit 17th in the Championship, a point above the Bluebirds and without a win in four following Tuesday’s midweek defeat to Burnley.

O'Dowda gets a yellow card after 10 minutes for winning a 50/50 ball with the Coventry player looking like he had been shot, got up & jogged away as soon as the yellow was given.
