Terrible flat first half / BUT :

Sat Nov 30, 2024 5:00 pm

My view: first half coventry had all the ball, cardiff living off the break even half really.

meite was really lively like a man who really wanted to show everyone what he can do, he took his goal really well. He also made some very good headed defensive clearances from corners and free kicks. HE was the better of the cardiff players

ng looks a real liability of late with yet another goal scored from a ball in behind him! a lot of balls played down his side first half, but lucky for us the balls played in where dealt with

turbull off with what looked like a hamstring injury ? rubin on to replace him

very scrappy first half with not alot of good football played, ref didn't really like us handing them free kicks for next to nothing.

2nd half cardiff started so bright attacking from the off, rubin passed to robertson who smashed one in bottom corner from outside the box lovely finish

the midfield pressed a lot more and we also seen more of the ball much better from the first half display

for me rubin changed the game with great attacking intent, especially when reindorf came on the pitch there link up play was at times fantastic reindorfs energy was a breath of fresh air, something we have been lacking upfront. Young bright quick with a lot of attacking intent

coventry had very little chances with anything they tried got stifled out but the linesman gave a pen from handball! to make it 2-2

meite was my man of the match he worked so hard and got himself a goal!

we played vs 12 men today what a joke, he really didn't give us anything, i can't see how a pen can be given for handball whilst your right next to a player who kicked it!

i feel we was unlucky to come away with only a point, but if you don't score when your on top this will always happen

Agree with everything you’ve said, apart from your comment regarding the penalty.

It was given because Chambers arms were away from his body, and it’s classed as an unnatural position. Doesn’t matter if you’re 10 yards away or 1 yard.

Referees haven’t given us the rub of the green all season. Feels like there’s some sort of Vendetta against us personally. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s all got to do with the Sala situation!

everyone has their own opinion to be fair for me its too close to give a pen as his hands where already away from the body before the ball was struck he didn't move his hands towards the ball, but it was the linesman that seen it how could he from his angle yet the reff didn't ?

On the radio Iwan Roberts said it was a very very dubious penalty. The ref asked the linesman and he hadnt really seen it either. He also agreed that the ref was very very poor. In the commentry they said we fully deserved 3 points on our second half performance.

What’s a penalty decision got to do with Sala?

I didn’t say it was down to the penalty decision. I said in general referees have not given us the rub of the green all season, Simon.

Coventry never looked like scoring in the second half until the penalty was given, definitely hit his hand but we've all seen them not given & given, this time the linesman wanted to be in Lampard's good books & told the ref it was a penalty as he didn't see it.

Considering almost everyone said we would get hammered when the team was announced we played quite well in the second half. Meite had probably his best game for us, he was on a mission to prove people wrong, Reindorf & Colwill linked up well together and Robinson needs to stop waving his hands around & actually attempt to get the ball when it's not straight to his feet.

Was always going to be to be tough playing against 12 men with the ref who gave us nothing & them everything even if we coughed the wrong way.

Not sure who my man of the match is yet.

Couldn't tell in the stadium what I thought of the penalty, seeing the replay I think it's harsh.

Agree with all you've said except Robertson MOTM, on another level.

The only reason I didn't nod it for Robertson was because first half i thought he was off pace, where as meite worked really hard and was the best of the bunch. Secound half Robertson was 1000% better than the first

I agree with that, so much truth in your summary Kyle. :bluebird:

I know that’s the letter of the law states if unnatural position it’s to be given, however thought it’s harsh decision. Is it really unnatural position when you’re running . It’s not natural to run with your arms by your side so it’s hard to try and close your man down the way chambers has without arm coming away from body.
Me personally the handball rule need to be look at as I believe it to be more confusing now than ever before. In a split second moment it’s got to be hard for a referee to work at whether a handball was in a natural position or not. This is causing so much controversy as it’s so inconsistent. It be more consistent if they gave every handball regardless of body position. I would probably prefer this as a the referee hasn’t got to deliberate in a spit second how the handball was committed. He can see it and give it regardless.
Don’t know what your guys opinions on this would be?
Be more exciting i think, can’t remember the last time we had a penalty given to us, we don’t get many.
