Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to confirm that Omer Riza has been appointed as the Club’s First Team Manager on a contract until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Also in the last 7 games 1 Win and in the last 5 games 0 Wins taking 2pts from 15
Pts.
Tan Sri Vincent Tan said of today’s appointment:
“We’ve clearly seen a change for the better in playing style and performance during Omer’s time as Interim Manager with some encouraging results. After careful consideration in recent weeks as to what the best decision was for the Club and this squad of players, I’m very pleased to give Omer this opportunity and wish him well.
“Our targets, clearly, are to climb the Championship table and further develop a squad that has youth and ability at its core.
“I thank our supporters for their patience during this critical review period and hope we can all enjoy better times during the remainder of this season.”
Omer added: "I am delighted to be able to continue to lead this brilliant football club, and would like to thank Tan Sri Vincent and the Board of Directors for the opportunity.
“We have made real progress during the last few weeks, and I look forward to continuing our work on the training pitch over the coming months. I’m very excited for the remainder of the season, and hope that you Bluebirds fans are looking forward to joining us.”

Will support him of course but my preference has always been a more experienced manager, given the position we are in the table.
Won't be surprised if we're looking for a new manager in the summer.

Not disrespect to Riza, but I can’t believe he’s been given the job. I think this is the year we will go down, and the board have only themselves to blame.

I like Riza but i am 99% sure we will be looking for a new manager before the end of the season. We’ve been down this road before and were lucky to stay up a couple of times. This could be the year it finally costs us. I knew the bilic stuff was nonsense why would he come here? So many decent out of work managers and we will have to go back, cap in hand to them in Feb after the board saying ‘we weren’t impressed with the candidates.’ When will they learn?
Thu Dec 05, 2024 2:43 pm
Here we go again then.
Strap in, lads.
Thu Dec 05, 2024 2:43 pm
Really hope Tan comes out of the woodwork at some point this season so all the fans can tell him what we think of him.
I pray riza can keep us up but this feels like the final nail in the coffin.

CURRENTLY UNDER RIZA:
One Win Our last 7 games.
N0 Wins in our last 5 games.
2pts from Our last 15pts.
Omer Riza
Riza’s previous experience is lower Non League Cheshnut 10 years ago. 7 games with Leyton Orient in the Non League about 7 years ago (and Riza lost 5 of them) then next manager job is Cardiff City.
Omer Riza:
“On the Wednesday,I got on a flight. I got there on Thursday, then met on Friday, had a good chat, really intriguing and it's great to see what Mr Tan's achieved in the course of his lifetime.”
“I have nothing but respect and admiration for Mr Tan.”

With so many good candidates available Tan thought Riza is the best one???
Our club is a complete shambles and yet again Dalman and Choo have gone AWOL like the cowards they are!!

I like Riza, he’s clearly a nice guy and the players like him.
I’ll support him as I’ve supported the past managers, I can’t help but think though that this could have buried us.
I don’t think he’s ready for the inevitable relegation scrap.

Going to get my banner made up "Tan out". After that annoucment riza nice bloke but its been done for 1 reason only CHEAP but there is no going back now he has it till the end of the season and if he goes down hill riza will be getting it in the neck also,
as he did keep tight lipped about it and sadly riza is another YES MAN. Yes sir 3 bags full sir.
"Time for protest".

Yes it's the same old cheap, "yes Tan", "no Tan" option again. Tan has well and truly shown his intentions for our club again.
I like Riza, he comes across as a nice guy and a very good coach, but not a manager of a championship club that should be going for promotion. I fear we are well and truly in a relegation battle.
TAN OUT!

Nice bloke. Utter disaster. A club with no ambition. I feel for us fans.

I still think we couldn't get anyone of note to join "until the end of the season".
Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:27 pm
League 1 here we come
Under Tan we fall
Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:35 pm
How depressing!
Plenty of better managers out there, yet again we go for the cheap option that will cost us even more in the long run.
I can see even less renewing season tickets if this carries on, myself and my family included.
Sick of wasting money on season tickets for this crap each year.

No Omer, no disrespect. You seem a more than decent gent, but no, with Tan at the helm, I'm not looking forward to the journey. And no, I won be joining the dwindling apathetic crowds....
Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:38 pm
I will always support this club and will give Riza as much support as I can but feel we’ve missed a golden opportunity to get in a really good manager for the long term like Robins or Cooper ..
There must be something that in the club that’s makes it an unattractive job and leaves us with an inexperienced guy as the only option.
Seriously concerned about the rest of the season as survival will seem success …..
Tan and the board are unfit to run this club

How easy will it be to get "anyone of note" to join when we're in League 1 I wonder?

Hes our manager and i will always back our managers but I think the club have got this wrong with this appointment ,shows lack of ambition and it says to me that they given up this season for making the playoffs , the telling sign will be in the transfer window ,we desperately need a top striker and midfielder. Will he be backed ? .

WEZ
Dream on
with transfers tan has already indicated the "reserve team" and the youth coming through,
and riza is just happy to be a manager in the championship he is not going to demand players.

this has nothing to do with football, this is purely a cheap financial approach to seeing if relegation finally happens and avoiding compensation.
or as one bbc employee said just now in the great western, tan thinks relegation will bring back the fans when we get immediate promotion next year..........................and i would not argue that tan thinks that way..............bloody looney who needs to be sectioned!
