If Tan pulled out who next ?

Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:01 am

Love him or hate him without his
money we would be in the crap.
If he was hounded out then who would buy him out who had the finance to take us forward? A worrying thought.
To be fair, Tan hasn’t forced player sales, like previous owners.. Yes he made one big mistake.. however, financially he has backed the managers.
Grass isn’t always greener on the other side, be careful for what you wish for.
I will be called a Tan lover for this post.. I am not , I believe that in the next 2 years he will sell up, I do appreciate that he has kept this club going.

Yes his money has kept us afloat, a lot more money than necessary because of his poor decision making and choices. It is he that signs the cheques, Alex Smithies on 30k a week!, his final decision always, blame the managers all you want, he hired them. A DOF or just being more open minded and less stubborn and showing no interference in a sport he knows nothing about would have meant that money recouping losses could have been better spent on recruitment of players and managers using football advisors. I agree with your point, be careful what you wish for, football task forces are now in place to prevent any rebrands, it came to late for us, the damage caused in fighting and loss of fans. He could have made much more success of his 'project' if he listened to other more knowledgeable voices than his own. Other clubs have had similar grief with owners, but they didnt have their identity stripped

Since when was an owner just keeping a club afloat a good thing?

There are more and more people getting involved with football clubs by investing money to improve them. It's happened at Forest, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Wrexham, Burnley etc.

Clubs like Sheffield United, Everton and Shrewsbury are the next to get that sort of ownership.

There are plenty of people who want to buy this club for a fair price and take it back to the Premier League. Unfortunately the current owner is asking for money that is totally unrealistic.
