CARDIFF CITY FOOTBALL CLUB'S RESPONSE TO FANS' OPEN LETTER:
With Saturday’s fixture against Watford having been postponed due to Storm Darragh, Cardiff City Football Club wishes to take a moment ahead of the weekend to address an open letter circulated earlier in the week attributable to supporters representing Cardiff City Supporters’ Club; Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust; Cardiff City DSA and the Fan Advisory Board (FAB).
Frustrations with early-season performances and our League position at this stage of the season are acknowledged and empathised with; however, the Club is disappointed that the referenced letter was made public suddenly by the FAB on Sunday evening, without due dialogue and communication processes being assumed in line with the FAB’s terms of reference.
Prior to this letter’s publication, no discussion from supporter-elected members of the FAB was had with the Nominated Board Level Representative (NBLR) and Co. Chair, Steve Borley. For optimal function of the FAB as it was agreed and intended, it is essential that this formalised dialogue consistently, and without exception, takes place in future.
Cardiff City’s Fan Advisory Board (FAB) is an independent body for in-depth discussion with the Club’s hierarchy including Executive Club Staff and the Club’s Board of Directors. In February 2024, five directly elected fans were elected to the FAB. Five statutory supporter representatives sit on the FAB, including two members of Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust (CCST); two members of Cardiff City Supporters’ Club (CCSC); and one member of Cardiff City Disabled Supporters’ Association (CCDSA).
Meetings are co-chaired by Club Director Steve Borley, Cardiff City’s NBLR, and Michael Weedon, the elected supporter representative.
Scheduled meetings happened in February, May and August this year, with the fourth and final meeting of 2024 scheduled for next Monday. Cardiff City FC’s Supporters Liaison Officer (SLO) serves as Secretary of the FAB with meetings published via the Club website and available to refer to, here.
In addition, a fan parliament, attended by Mehmet Dalman, Ken Choo, Steve Borley and Omer Riza and ten Heads of Departments took place on November 1st.
Ahead of several other clubs and without current obligation, Cardiff City Football Club took the decision to form its own independent fan advisory board earlier this year to give supporters a stronger voice that was heard mandatorily. It is therefore concerning that an incendiary open letter was published, contrary to the procedures and process that the FAB agreed upon.

Awful statement from the club.
FAB was done early but doesn't mean that club are beyond (fair) criticism.
FAB represent the fans, it's their right to make any letter public.
Yet another example of the club not understanding the fans.
Fri Dec 06, 2024 6:49 pm
Typical shit response.
No attempt made to deal with any of the points raised in the letter.
The club seem determined to drive a massive wedge between themselves and the supporters.
Every move they make they're making things worse.
The club is a disgrace.
Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:01 pm
Toxic from top to bottom.
Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:06 pm
Absolute crap.
They are basically saying that the FAB should have spoken with them without releasing the letter?
Yet they do NOT give a FxCK about any of us fans.
FxCK the board and FxCK Tan.

Absolute Disgrace once again from the Hierarchy.
They are or already have ruined everything about Our Club.

Well fab left themselves open to this response? Maybe better course action would have been to ask the pertinent questions and on response could have openly responded to shame them if nessasary.. now all its done is pissed off tan dalman & ken and no ones the wiser ..

Sorry but I totally disagree.
Whatever you think of the FAB, their job is to represent the fans.
All the fans agreed with what was said in the letter so they were doing their job and reflecting the view of the fans. It is right that it was made public.
This response by the club is a disgrace and shows they do not care one bit about what the fans think.
Get the lot of them out - they've made a bad situation even worse with this statement.
Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:30 pm
The letter was OK but I thought this would happen after the Trusts disastrous open letter. I'd assumed that the FAB has asked these questions prior and received no answers, hence the escalation to an open letter which is the last nuclear option.
But that said, the club are using this protocol "breach" as an excuse to close down any discussion on all the valid points raised that concern all fans. Absolute BS and shows that they don't take the FAB seriously when it boils down to it, at least for the all important issues which is the whole point of the FAB and Fan Led Review of football. Beyond a joke.
The FAB really need to double down and push back on this and get proper answers. I'm not holding my breath though.
If the club think that Tans Riza statement and their previous FAB meetings are providing adequate answers and communication on key issues then they can think again.

Ned I agree but just making point their action got a response that was expected and no one is wiser are they? So what did this open letter achieve other than anounce riza as coach until end season something I suspect riza knew after visit to Malaysia .....its no coincidence or are people saying tan panicked with riza appointment? Like said nothing been learned from what as happened.

It shouldn’t matter if the FAB had asked the questions before or not.
It also shouldn’t matter that it was an open letter.
The issue here is the club do not communicate, have no plan, and have lied consistently.

Of course the letter went public you clowns

The club are making no attempt to disguise their total and utter contempt for the supporters.
Sorry - I mean "customers".

This response complaining it's an open letter is just yet another excuse to ignore all fans concerns and is what really happened last time also.
Yet again it proves to me that Tan & co really don't care about the fans and that the FAB isn't taken seriously. I'm disgusted with how the club are trying to wriggle out of giving the fans the answers that we are demanding as everyone except the board can see the rot with the club caused by the board and Tan.
Fri Dec 06, 2024 8:17 pm
Absolutely disgusting reply from the club. Dismissive and the typical kind of arrogant attitude that I’ve come to expect. SACK THE BOARD!!!
Fri Dec 06, 2024 8:19 pm
The letter was sent in the absence of any dialogue or information from the club despite the hierarchy saying there would be better correspondence in the future. The reply is awful. The fans are the heartbeat of the club - the people at the top only have to engage. We just want the club to do well, be entertaining on the field of play and have a plan for a successful future. .

OPEN RESPONSE TO BOARD _ ALL OF THEM
DO ONE - YOU ARE NOT WANTED - WE GOT RID OF OTHERS - WE'LL GET RID OF YOU LOT
Fri Dec 06, 2024 9:00 pm
.... and which of the points did they answer? Or did they just slag off everyone treating them like naughty children?
Fri Dec 06, 2024 9:19 pm
Well that response has pretty much alienated every fan left who supported this board
Typical of Dalman and Choo…first they go AWOL when the going gets tough and then they hide behind a letter like the cowards they are
It’s an absolutely disgraceful response from an absolutely clueless bunch of owners
Tan please just sell up and f**k off
Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:23 pm
You will all get your chance to tell the board owner to f.ck off,
jan18th cardiff v swansea
Loud and proud.

Absolute shocking response but what do we all expect from these clowns
Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:38 pm
Read the open letter and there are no questions just complaints that he/board do not communicate with fans same complaints as previously outlined at meetings? The boards response is outlining the mechanism for board/fan meetings which fab didn't adhere too.... the only thing they didnt answer was about 70days without permanent manager? Not sticking up for board just trying to understand what the letter was supposed to achieve that other meetings hadn't.... we all know its a pathetic way to run football club and they Don't communicate so what was letter hoping to achieve?? Because all it achieved was announcing riza as manager for 6mnths and more animosity between fans and board....

That's not true Allan, they made several requests and the club didn't refer to any of them.
Most of these were about better than communication and a bit of detail on where the board see the season going.
All the club have done in their statement is complain that the supporter groups didn't tell them this privately and that they didn't get the private communication - which is hilarious in itself given how they fail to communicate with us.
They also pointed out to the club that there is a big shift in supporter opinion against the ownership.
They made loads of points which the club have ignored in their response.
But what the FAB/supporters groups said in their letter is irrelevant really.
How the club have responded is just sticking two fingers up to all of us.
Fri Dec 06, 2024 11:19 pm
I also note that this 'response' has been slyly uploaded to the website and also there hasn't been a single social media link back to it or announcement.
Someone also decided that as the game is off tomorrow that the timing should be now for damage limitation otherwise it would have been published yet. Whoever is responsible for this and the clubs PR couldn't have alienated already pissed off fans anymore and should be sacked as clueless, couldn't have been further out of touch and sly.
I don't think that even the most ardent Tan supporter could be a fan of his now even in the slightest unless their naive and have their head in the sand.
I used to think that a solution would be for Tan to sit back and let someone experienced run the football side for him to be a solution but whoever that person would be would only ultimately get treated the same by Ming, Bling and Boycie. I can't wait to see the back of all three of them.

Yes ned can see they're not interested in reacting with fab or fans ... obviously just my take on things slightly out tilt with others.... anyway whatever fab wanted from board all they got was more animosity and probably less communication?

Apparently there is a FAB meeting scheduled for this Monday where this will be discussed, Steve Borley tweeted it earlier. Steves commitment can't be criticised but even he can't defend the clubs statement today.
Nothing on the FAB website or even meeting dates detailed. They have tweeted they would be responding but tbh they need to be doing much better at communicating. I'd like to see meeting minutes on there too which should be the norm.
I hope they really open up on the club on Monday as this has been another kick in the teeth for the fans and it's obvious the FAB are not being taken seriously by the board.

Paul, if I am not mistaken, isn’t Steve Borley the FAB’s ‘Point-of-Contact’ for any communications? If so, was he aware of the questions raised in the ‘open’ letter…?
Either way, the club have once again ignored the concerns and sensitivities of the supporters and I’d be just a tad surprised if Steve was party to lacking or misinformation…
I’d love to know what Vincent Tan’s ‘end game’ is, as right now it is about as clear as mud…!
