Potential investors told to look at Cardiff City with massive potential.

Friday 20th December 2024

By Glen Williams

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has told potential buyers that Cardiff City has "bags of potential" and would be a good opportunity for investors.

Former West Brom, Sunderland and Wolves striker Goodman believes Cardiff might be an appealing business venture for any would-be buyers.

"For me, one club whose fans would welcome new owners and has bags of potential is Cardiff City," Goodman told CoinPoker.

"It's a club that, not too long ago, was in the Premier League and, with Vincent Tan having been there for a long time, you wonder if he holds the same love and has the same ambition for the club that he once did. I'm not sure he's prepared to invest in the same way he previously did.”

Five potential buyers have approached the owners in the last few years , but Goodman believes eventually the owners will have to sell to one as Cardiff would be the club that has so much potential it will happen.

There can be a million interested parties but nobody is going to pay the ridiculous price our lunatic owner is asking.

Agreed, but if we are facing Division 1, I think VT would be prepared to accept £100m from Sam (now) than have to accept the club being worth £30m.

This is his families inheritance and all he is doing is hurting his families interests

This is great positive stuff ,
Hopefully big noise coming from everyone in the new year to make this change happen :bluebird: :bluebird:

Even before the Sala case?

Let’s keep the momentum going, great to see exposure already.

The Sala case is another smoke screen and potentially we will lose it like all the other cases

The longer Tan hangs on this season, the more the clubs value will go down, and if we do, Sam or anyone can pick us up for half the £60 odd million we are really worth now….

Pleased that Goodman has said this, he's Sky's main EFL co commentator.

Helps raise the issues to national attention.

I read this positive article and almost posted it; but the headline did not really tell the actual story within…

Quote (the headline): “Tonight's Cardiff City news as potential buyers told new owners 'would be welcomed’

Sadly, despite my eagerness to read what was occurring, I felt flat when I realised (as welcome as any such comment is) the words were spoken by an ‘outsider’ with no input from inside the club; the one thing we all crave for…

Don Goodman has credibility and is, of course, correct in his view and assumptions on the ‘potential’ of our great club and getting it ‘out there’ is to be welcomed; but the ‘sticking point’ still remains, i.e. ‘when will Vincent Tan decide the time, if not the price, is right…?

Would they really be ‘welcomed’ by the person who matters…?

That, sadly, remains the $100m question, and until he accepts that, opinions are just that; opinions…

Sheff Utd are about to get sold for reported "Just over £100M".

That is the price of a premier league bound club.

I'd put our value significantly below that, and if its anywhere near or above, then its groundhog day.

Is it only me that wouldn’t really want Sam back?

No, I would. The club had its soul in tact then at least. Sure he had his faults, doesn’t everyone in life? Tan is ruining this once great club to the point that lots of core fans are just not going anymore. I’d take relegation to get rid of him once and for all all day long.

Goats
I agree just take a look at pompey v coventry today,
and then look at our home crowds how they have dwindled under tan especially the last 5 season's ,
where investment and interest from owner and board are non existant,
sam was always enthusiastic as an owner compare to tan there is no comparison.

135m dollars = £107m

I might be wrong here but if Sheffield United, a side on their way to the EPL, is worth £107m then we must be looking at £80m tops (and going on a downward spiral).

Probably less, sheff utd were in PL last season too so more value in that fact with squad players etc. Tan is never going to get his money back unless he invests properly (decent manager and decent budget and a plan) but he won’t so it’s just going to get worse for us and him the longer he stays….you would think an astute business would know this. Maybe he thinks he will break even in league 1
