Cheltenham manager criticises Riza

Mon Dec 23, 2024 12:14 pm

Cheltenham manager Michael Flynn criticises Omer Riza for his comments on saying he wants Joel Colwill in League One:

"I haven't heard anything. I find it a bit bizarre that you'd tell the press before speaking to us.”

“I am sure that he was just caught out by a question. Joel is with us, playing regular football and I have a good relationship with Cardiff. He is developing. I know how to develop players and bring them on. Let's hope he is still here. I haven't heard anything."

It’s the way Our Club is run from top to the bottom, ignorance and incompetence.

Give it 5 months and it looks like we'll be playing there.

He’ll be playing in League One next year for Cardiff City.

Sour grapes because hes losing one of his best players!
Why when it's a negative statement on club people love it but every time there's a hint of positive things that to ends up being negative? Yes not a lot to be positive about but!!! Let's be fair and balanced in comments dont need to look for negativity it comes along naturally at city.... :o

So you think it's acceptable for Riza to tell the press before Flynn, that's what you're saying.

Each to their own, but I don't think that.

Did he tell press he was bringing him back? It says wants him to play higher level ... not quite same thing... managers are always talking to press what was he asked to give the response he did? Guess no mannager except city's ever say things before telling another manager?.... and no one thinks it's sour grapes he may lose one of best players? Or hes miffed he never got offered city job before bullut.....but it's easier to blame riza than look at anything else...

“Riza says he think Colwill should remain out on loan, but ideally with a club in League One.”

I don’t know about you, but to me that means he wants to recall him from Cheltenham and send him out to a club in L1.

It’s not right making the comments that he has, if he hasn’t spoken with the manager of Cheltenham first.

As before the announcement I was against Rizas appointment this has never been a job for a rookie especially one with such poor pedigree (Rambo or Ralls first job may have made some sense) but this is a clickbait headline whether that be the forum or newspaper.

I doubt the manager of a championship clubs speaks that often to the manager of a L2 club. Most clubs do that through a player
development person. The manager may speak to his player occasionally. My guess is Flynn is just deflecting, they are mid table and need to add some more class, not lose it.

PS - I think Flynn gets us out of the relegation zone as would any competent L2 manager

As been pointed out clubs have personnel who deal with players on loan so why would riza speak to flynn when other staff from city and Cheltenham probably spoke to each other if in fact there was a need to even to do this? Is it this season or next season riza wants him to step up a league As far as I can see riza as not said he's bringing him back in January just wants him to play higher league! Sour grapes is more plausible than flynns complaint at something that hasn't happened yet.
