Rubin Colwill

I can see why so many managers didn’t pick him, apart from the occasional flick he’s dreadful. Crosses like an under 12 player.

I’d sell if we got a sniff of an offer for him

Re: Rubin Colwill

He’s an obvious confidence player and no one has any confidence in the team at the moment. His inconsistency is extremely frustrating.

Re: Rubin Colwill

I disagree, he’s terrible. I’ve watched him all his career. Yes he can have a good game, but that’s 1 in about 20.

Makes me really question people on here, who consistently go on about why he should be a first team regular etc and calling for more of our very average youth players to be included.

The one player that’s come through our youth system recently which I would play is Kpakio, the rest are div 2 standard.

That’s fair enough, he has flashes of brilliance and in my opinion is one of our more naturally gifted players. Without consistent delivery of results then talent is pointless.

Re: Rubin Colwill

Not as good as people want to believe he is.

People constantly told us "give him a run of games, and he'll show what he can do".

Well he has had a very generous run of games and I still don't believe he's a great player.

He was awful yesterday especially - in fairness, so was everyone.

He’s just so slow. As soon as an attack goes near him it’s back to walking pace. Not ideal if you want to score

Re: Rubin Colwill

Ball retention is poor generally he doesn't get it under control st all its let me try flick it past player only works 1 in 3 times..... can beat a man but only lasts 5yrds then he's stopped as decision making is and as been awful along with distribution...and is he the only player who trys to head ball by ducking his head? Must be because hes blonde!!
overall its not working out for him and its not due to rest of players being as bad..

Re: Rubin Colwill

Fri Dec 27, 2024 4:05 pm

He’s just an average Joe made out to be the next best talent I’ve never rated him does have a decent game 1 -10 shows glimpses but that’s not enough to be special or if he was a special talent he would be running the show at championship level he’s not improved or got any better he’s just an average player in a bad team

You need 11 playets to roll up their sleeves and work hard to avoid relegation. As I’ve said often before. YOU CANNOT PLAY Y THE TROTTER BROTHERS IN THE SAME LINE UP. Ie R Colwell and C Robinson. They don’t work hard and close down. And sooooo slow. Unfortunately, CR scored right at the end and people will say he must start. I disagree, but if he does start then Colwill must not.
Compare their attitude with Ralls- at least he is proud to wear the shirt.

People on here saying that the El Ghazi incident/ chance was key. Not for me. The key moment was when Colwell made no effort to challenge at the sorner and Oxford had a free header for their 2nd goal. For 30 mins 2nd half Oxfotd looked like a decent team. Only when the 2 young subs came on did we look better.

More talent in his little toe than Cullen apparently. He scored another two in the win v QPR.

Not sure anyone said the El Ghazi incident was key but that it showed the total lack of commitment to the cause from him in particular & the team in general.

When we're playing well (which is rare), he's very good and the best player on the pitch. Just fed up with how consistently he doesn't have a good game.

This happens to most players with ability, have to have players playing well around them to shine and they are amazing. Everyone was playing really well during the early days of Riza’s reign and all including Colwill have fallen off a cliff. It’s what happens when you get found out and managers like Riza don’t know what to do about it and then neither do the players.

We slag off our own,
We slag off our own,
We are Cardiff City
We slag off our own

We have a keeper who barely makes a save and then takes forever to pass the ball
An Ex premier league player center half who has been a disaster-
2 Greek internationals who look like they have packed their cases already
A couple of forwards who bottle 60/40's

But lets single out Colwill. Let's hope Ashford doesn't miss a shot or the young full-back a tackle. Joel is better staying at Cheltenham

And all those players have also rightly received criticism.

Some people, such as you apparently, think it's a huge crime to criticise Colwill just because he's an academy player.

Open your eyes. He is not nearly good enough or consistent enough for this level.

If you compare him to Cullen at Swansea, the difference is huge in terms of ability and consistency - and not in Colwill's favour.

But never mind, let's keep pretending he's a great player because it makes us feel warm inside.

Well peoples argument before was "he hasn't had a run of games".

What's the excuse now?

So out of Meite, O'Dowda, Willock and Colwill, he was the worse attacker ?

Meite gets torn apart on here even when he doesn't play.

Willock is constantly criticised.

O'Dowda probably gets a bit of an easy time from the fans to be fair.

Colwill is deserving of criticism. Just accept that most people were wrong, he is not the great player they are trying to convince themselves that he is.

Against Oxford? Probably was yeah.
