Oxford toxicity

Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:21 am

I was at the Oxford and Watford games. What a contrast on and off the pitch.

The Watford game was one of the best performances this season by every player on the pitch. Us fans were loving it. What a force we can be when we are all together.

All we want as fans is to see effort like that consistently.

The Oxford game though got very toxic with the Tan out chants to the you're not fit to wear the shirt chants. I even saw one of our fans leave early and throw his shirt on the pitch in disgust!!

It's the most I've seen the fans get on the players backs in a long time, especially at the final whistle. They'd had enough, and rightly so.

What I'm wondering is did this finally hit home with the players to make them stand up and realise what it means to us. Did the chanting and boos finally get the players to play for the shirt and us and did riza channel this to get a tune out of them?

I’d hope it was the kick up the arse they needed. You’re right, the relationship between us and Riza and the players is vital for us staying up.

Tan is here regardless, let’s ignore the maniac and stay up in spite of him and his board of clowns

Do you think the difference was that there was an expectation that Cardiff would beat Oxford but no expectation to beat Watford?

Yes possibly but they were really up for it from the off. Every player worked hard closing down tracking etc. The celebrating with the fans. Everything just seemed like something finally clicked. The early goal obviously helped also

I think the fans are crucial when it comes to how Cardiff play. We are awful at home a lot because the fans are on the backs of the players. It’s not a nice place to play.

There is a disconnect between the fans and players for sure. That’s nothing to do with Tan that’s on the fans.

Any idea what size the shirt is? I’m looking for a large, as I’ve put a bit of weight on over Xmas.
