Don't play the first team on Thursday

Sat Jan 04, 2025 6:27 pm

That's what I think.

We don't have another league game for ten days and it would be more beneficial to give the players who play every week a rest.

Would expect Sheffield United to make a lot of changes too.

After Thursday, we will have five league games between 14th January and 1st February.

Now is a good opportunity to give these players a rest that I think they need.

I said it a few days ago, I’ll repeat it.

This isn’t the year for a cup run.

Injuries, along with a relegation fight.

Play the U21s

Agree 100%

Can't see Sheffield United playing many first teamers either in their position.

Agree, if I had the choice of winning the FA cup
Or staying up I’d choose staying up

I loved our FA Cup run in 2008 and it was one of my proudest experiences with my beloved Bluebirds to see them step out at Wembley Stadium and put in a display

I’d love to see it again; but the difference is the 2008 team were on the up, whilst the current team are on a knife-edge as it stands and need to concentrate on Championship survival

It’s sad; but this is where we’ve come full-circle as a club and our priorities seem to have taken us back to the 80’s/90’s

Only one man can change the landscape; and he is seemingly unable or unwilling to do so

Give the boys a rest and put the rest of the squad under pressure to earn their coin…! :ayatollah:

Spot on.

What a drab tie. Sheff Utd will do exactly the same.

Try something new. Maybe 2 try two of our useless strikers up top together??

Rest anyone important though. I'd take elimination without injury right now; which is disgraceful but a sign of the times.

We have a few first team squad who need value game time at the moment,Fish,Howarth,Bagan,Elgazi,Kanga,NG,(Etete,Reindof if fit)kpakio.
These players need match fitness/sharpness as they may be needed in a blink of an eye.Add U21sto fill the team and the bench.

By the way when was the last time we put a first team out in FA Cup?

Ironically it's nearly a 100 years since we played Sheffield United in the 1925 fa cup .this tie will be a non event in comparison and not just because it's the 3rd round

100% get all them in, wonder if Davies and Etete can get some game time as well.

Our position and the run of games over Christmas id not even name any first team players on the bench just fill it with youth

Have to agree. Not worth the risk and gives first team rest / recovery time

Agree - and who knows we might and the manager see something worth adding to the next match day squad :bluebird:
