" Championship manager leaves "

Wed Jan 08, 2025 7:20 pm

Rob Edwards has left Luton Town by mutual consent.

Edwards took the Hatters to the Premier League but, following relegation from the top flight last season, they find themselves in 20th place in the Championship - just two points above the bottom three.

This surprises me.

He’s a good manager and has done wonders for Luton.

I have a feeling that this will come back to bite them.

Their fans have wanted him out for months but the issue has always been Luton haven't had the money to pay off his contract.

Nearly all their money went towards the new stadium which is why they couldn't bring in players for another promotion push.

I agree he's a good manager and will surely be back in the Championship soon. But it has been a dreadful season for them, when they have some great players at this level - they were targeting mid table.

To be fair, according to our board we were targeting top 2

Not long ago we would have loved to have him as a manager but now we have riza ?
Personally i would swap them.

Monty the championship is a rotating door of managers? One leaves another takes place how many is that 10 or 11 so far? Length of time going down from 9mnths to 3mnths or less crazy situation.

Yes but not hearing lets go for him like a while back but he has more about him than riza imo.

Think most if not all have more about them! Tbh monty I'm confused by him he starts of brilliantly then unexpicably he goes off rails with tactics (unless purse is problem) now last 3 games we are going back to when he started ...(new coach influence) not going to remove him so tan had better support him in window ... New coach doesn’t garauntee anything no matter who they are.... if he gets what he wants think we'll stay up ....football owners have got no idea how to sustain a club long term its a quick fix or bust tan is bad in this respect but look deeper at championship owners and find fair few similar to tan don't know how to run a club otherwise wouldn't have had 11 managers so far this season.

I was on holidays in senegal in November and with it being a gatwick only flight with tui a lot of London +(suburbs) people in the hotel. We got friendly with 3 couples 1 guy was Luton Town ST holder other 1 West ham ST holder and the other a casual spurs fan. All 3 were unhappy with the managers and the Luton guy was saying that the fans have been baying for his blood all season. And really wanted him out

Mowbray, Schumacher and Harris all being linked with the job - as well as a possible third return to Luton for Nathan Jones.

Paul Trollope and Richie Kyle, assisted by Mick Harford, have been put in charge temporarily.

I’d take him as our manager, get him in now while the window is open with Riza as assistant so he can learn from somebody who knows what they are doing in this league
