Apart from Rubin, they all did well actually.
Kpakio unlucky to pick up an injury.

Wez,
I said in August we should be copying Sunderland and was slated.
Our younger ones are hungrier and actually have more quality.
Than your Meitte and Kanga’s etc

We saw this v Southampton in the Cup but we never acted on it.
Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:57 pm
The one difference for me & something of a worry is that Colwill the elder ran the game against Southampton & was just as ineffective in this game as he was fantastic against Southampton. He seemed knackered after the first 10 minutes as well as useless but one may have been a symptom of the other although he seems to be going backwards lately anyway.

Good performance by the youngsters!
Let’s start putting them more into the league games.
We need to improve our youngsters rather than getting these awful loans that can’t be bothered to put a shift in.

Good to see the youth coming up with a good result.
How does this fit in with the planned protest?

Rubin and Joel Colwill should both be playing and surrounded by better quality.
Same as Cian Ashford

Rubin shouldn't. He'd be lucky to get a game for Barry Town.
But when Joel comes back next season him and Ashford will be good.

Wow Ned,
You really can be brutal.
I stand by this Rubin is Quality

Bring back Joel and send rubin out on loan
Thu Jan 09, 2025 10:26 pm
Add to that list Giles, Reindorf and Joel Colwill. Youth, fitness, enthusiasm and guts. This is the way forward.
Thu Jan 09, 2025 10:46 pm
Joel Colwill should be called back now

100% agree ashford was on the brink of been sent out on loan recently we really need to give these lads a run in the championship tanner was another one who was going to be farmed out.

They had no choice it was youngsters or bust monty! But city hopefully now purse is not influencing where youngsters go on loan we can start to integrate the better ones into 1st team squad rather than send to Mickey mouse league as purse was doing.... no coincidence things are positive at academy level because purse not there interfering....

I’d personally stick with Colwill. He’s a talented player though frustrating to watch at times. He divides opinion more than most. If he reads some of the remarks on this forum I guess he can take solace in not knowing what goes on in people’s heads.

Agree, you know I've been a big fan of the academy over the years and I think we are starting to see the big investment in infrastructure of it over the years. The future is looking good for us in academy terms.

Rubin is a very frustrating player. I think we can all agree (even Ned) that the talent is there, he's shown it on many occasions where he has controlled games. Even last night that talent came out at times with some lovely touches and passes but most are saying he had a bad game.
Are we expecting him to control every game, and when he doesn't he's having a bad game, but realistically no worse than the other players.
Most players read this forum and even if Rubin doesn't, the constant very negative comments from some will have got back to him and this may well effect his confidence. Look at Brennan Johnson, he was abused on social media so he cancelled his accounts, then scored in 7 consecutive games.
Football players are human and have feelings too. We should be encouraging our players, not slagging them off at every opportunity.

You are insistent on saying how bad Rubin is, as you were preseason on insisting we give Bulit a new contract because you thought he was so good.
Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:12 am
You are right. Comments like he would be lucky to get a game for Barry Town is ludicrous.
Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:55 am
Colwill is a frustrating player to watch because we have all seen glimpses of how good he can be.
I think he needs to work on his decision making and getting more confidence, he seems to take way to many touches rather than trying to go for goal or picking out a pass.
I don't think all the criticism he gets his helping him, but everyone is intitled to their opinion.
I personally would prefer to get behind a player, especially a local lad from the youth.
100% there's a good player in there, especially at this level

Fair point

I remember you saying about the younger players Annis, we both posted something very similar at the same time.
For once in a long time we have promising youngsters who are hungry to prove themselves.
I was impressed with a lot of them last night.

Worcester you are so negative towards Rubin and to say he isn't even good enough for Barry Town is way over the top I just hope he doesn't read this it won't do his confidence any good whatsoever when we need everyone pulling together.

Not defending Ned at all he can defend himself but you saying someone is negative is ludicrous in itself.
I’m pretty sure it was you that Chris mentioned was ‘club bashing’ on many occasions

I thought the same.
