Before anyone says anything, I have not posted this to criticise Rubin Colwill - for once.

But playing him as a false nine really isn't working. He just isn't suited at all to the role.

What he's best at is with the ball at his feet between the lines. Whatever I think of him in terms of his quality and consistency, the general consensus is he is at his best playing between the sitting midfielders and the front three.

But in this position, we are asking him to chase down defenders and go up for headers.

That's not his strength at all, we all know that.

If he's going to stay in the team, they need to find a place for him further back because this simply isn't working.

Sounds like a striker is coming in this week so hopefully this experiment will be over.

It seemed obvious to everyone apart from the management that he was never suited to playing that role.

I totally agree with you, he's definitely not a striker. As you say, his best position is attacking midfield behind the striker facing the goal, he's absolutely rubbish with his back to goal and in the air. Crazy decision to play him there.

Hey, we agree, he is never a 9, if he had the skillset (he doesn't) he just doesn't have the instinct.

I couldn’t understand why Etete didn’t start upfront

Etete is the same lad who was shit last season?

This Etete hasn't played a proper game since the summer, he was poor against a sheffield united team who didn't want to progress in the cup and only played 45 mins.

The problem is Kanga has been shocking, Meite is a winger who can't last 60 mins and hasn't recovered from his pre city injury, Robinson a petulant brat so was banned, Davies is injured and Ashford is clearly a classy attacking right midfielder, so it had to be Rubin.

I am surprised we haven't tried Tanner, he is strong, can run, shoot but can't pass or cross......

The main reason we are in such a mess is that we haven’t got an out and out striker and haven’t had one for 3 years

This is why we are reduced to playing Colwill as a no 9 it’s absolutely ridiculous he has many qualities but a striker he is not

The team as a whole is reasonable and quite capable of a mid table finish but without a goalscorer we will always struggle

It’s been obvious for years but whoever makes the decisions on transfers has got it so wrong time and time again!!

I agree. Confidence has gone for some reason. However, the talent is still there, he still shows it now and again but he's definitely not a striker, he's no good with his back to goal.

Yeah should of brought Etete on, he had a great header saved and he should of scored with the shot he put wide, had some decent dribbles. Thought his first half was decent considering his time out with injury

Shows the loss of confidence in meite and kanga.

He should have scored 2 yesterday. The one where he was out-muscled on the line by someone half his size was disappointing, but also well defended (plus a handful of Rubin's shirt and arm pit hairs)

He needs to start hitting the target as he's now getting more clear-cut chances.
