Is the plan now to go with youth?

Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:54 am

I am wondering if the mind set of the club has now changed in regards to a "plan" to move forward.

Looking at Sunderland of late and their results with a youthful side, have the board slowly been trying to mimic their fortunes over the last few seasons?

Salech (if rumours are true) - 22
Simic - 21
Ashford - 20
Fish - 21
Robertson - 21
Colwill - 22
Tanner - 22

Even fringe players;

Davies - 21
Conte - 22
Reindorf - 19

I'm all for a youthful side but we do need some older heads in the changing room and on the pitch as well. I guess they were hoping Ramsey and El-ghazi would fit the mold

We'll have plenty of youth players in the team next season in League 1 when Tan sells everything that's not tied down.

And he'll no doubt be looking to replace Riza with somebody who's even cheaper.

I’ve been saying since August that we should be bringing the kids into the mix.

They are hungry, have energy and are better than a lot of the crap that call themselves first team.

100% agree
And the only way they will develop is to play them with every opportunity. It's down to the management - if they have the balls to play them.

I think it’s obvious they’ve been trying to go this way a while now: Tanner, Daland, Etete, Turnbull, Simic, Salech etc.

All of these were 25 or under when signed.

Probably the best way to run as well tbf.
