The Football Association of Wales (FAW) have offered a deal worth up to £6m to Merthyr Town to join the Cymru Premier.
Up to £2m would go towards improving Penydarren Park. An annual payment of £250,000 over five years would be paid to the Martyrs.

We try and watch Merthyr at least once a season and I’d tend to agree with you Wez. Selling out the tradition of the club in return for cash and potential European football. It’s a tough one .
If they could maintain the fan base they’d probably be the biggest club in the league crowd and stadium wise.
Let’s be honest, TNS are a business venture who play in Shropshire so I have
never been able to gather much affection for them in their European efforts

They had 1700 there last night if they were in the football league I believe they would get bigger crowds than Newport do.

That's a tough one.
They've nearly gone bust loads of times.
While I get the pyramid dream. They could be a euro club every season. Secure for decades for their fans.
Trips to Rhyl and caernarfon etc.
Would boost the welsh league massively, a good time too. With so many dissulusioned football league fans about.
Lots of cardiff follow nowadays. ...
The bias is to the pyramid but deffo worth a thought..
A couple if bad seasons and they're in the shit again...

And so it begins…!
I hope Merthyr, who have played in (what is now) the EFL, stick to their guns and stay in the English pyramid…!
And some think the FAW Cup (or whatever it’s called) is worth a punt for the EFL clubs…?
The FAW have their agenda; and it’s
not in our best interests…!

A lot of people feel uncomfortable playing in the Welsh Premier which is a shame as we are a Welsh club.
Its understandable though as the advantages playing in the English pyramid outweigh them playing in the Welsh leagues. I think we should stick to what it is.

Tns...Barry.. hwest...Bala... and caernarfon have voiced approval for efl clubs entering competition

Merthyr are close to going up this season - this is all down to them which route they take .

English FA to reject the proposal after efl spoke to them with their concerns... lot of jealousy especially towards Wrexham from clubs.
