Smoke Bombs - the downside

Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:55 am

Hi all, want to firstly say thanks to all who attended the protest and made it the success it was on the day, we wanted peaceful and we got it.

It was great to see the blue smoke everywhere throughout the march, however it comes with its negative side too.

When we got outside reception I believe one was let off and thrown to the front where somebody picked it up and held it up. This is where things took a slight turn…

Did you know that as well as smoke these bombs throw out plastic pellet sized beads, and at an extremely high heat. Unfortunately one of these beads landed on my daughter’s head burning her scalp. She managed to pick it off once she felt it burn. We did seek medical advice once in the ground and they were fantastic in fairness. Even the event safety steward came to check on her. The medical staff cleaned it up and noticed it left a small burn mark.

This post isn’t to pass blame or to accuse, it’s to make people aware of the bits that come out of them.

So please think when releasing the smoke bombs, use them carefully :thumbright:

Thanks for the warning, I didn’t know that. Theses smoke bombs I’m guessing are not designed for this type of thing.

Hope your daughter not to has no lasting damage.
Respect to you for conveying this message in such a positive way if my daughter came to harm I don’t think I could be anywhere as reasonable as you.
