Rumour is that VT wants to sign a winger who plays in the Malaysian national team. He is apparently referred to as the wonderkid of their football and is 5’7””

Arif Aiman bin Mohd Hanapi (born 4 May 2002) is a Malaysian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Malaysia Super League club Johor Darul Ta'zim and the Malaysia national team.[2]

Rangers links to Arif Aiman Hanapi have appeared in Malaysian outlet the New Strait Times.

Specially, Rangers are mentioned on page 45 of the paper’s Sunday Times edition from 10th November 2024.

On the surface, Arif Aiman Hanapi appears to tick a lot of boxes for Rangers with the winger netting four goals in the ACLE this season.

The Johor Darul Ta’zim forward also has four goals and seven assists in eleven league games this season, whilst a further three strikes in the Malaysian cup takes the winger’s tally to nine goals for the campaign.

Airman could a decent signing if we get him.

In fairness he looks very decent, on U Tube (dont they all!!). Also, he is held in very high regard in the far East

Can’t say I’ve heard of him, but the words ‘wonder kid’ and Cardiff City show we are potentially heading in the right direction if true.

I hope there is some truth to this, he looks quick and he can finish aswell, he won't get that much space in the championship but he does look like he could step up no problem

Do we have any evidence this is coming down the track as to date we have only 1 player in so far.

I have watch some football from the league he is in I would be comfortable betting than our conference league is a higher standard. So too be a superstar in that league is not much of a challenge
Having said that every now and again someone from these leagues are way above the standard of the national league they play in Maybe he is the one ,who knows

His cutting in is not the best.

After watching the you tube vids he seems to be rapid and possesses some nice tricks but for me the defenders over there seem to give you a lot more space. Nasty championship defenders would find him out.

I looked to see what news was around for Hanapi. He is apparently the star player in Malaysia. However Irans top club (“giant!”) are keen on him, also Rangers are interested.
We live in hope that VT is interested and can persuade him.

If we do sign him (albeit very unlikely?) then surely we can sing a variation of “Im so happy” by Pharell Williams.

and one cost 7m by Norwich... so being unfair on city regarding lack of players .... but we do need another two decent players that's for sure... fun lacking on the forum at minute...

If he's a wonder kid it will not be because of anything tan as produced? But we do have an association with Malaysian football going back many years if its still running.

Not really commented on this thread because there doesn't seem to be anything substantial in it. Not being reported by any reliable people.

Compare that to Salech, reported by Danish and Swedish media with a high reputation, and Mannsverk which was reported by highly reputable Dutch media.

Some seem to be talking as if this is gospel, but it just looks like a rumour with nothing backing it up to me.
