Omer Riza’s Bluebirds are now undefeated in their last 7 games.

They play Derby County this Saturday who are just beneath them in the Championship and have lost their last 6 games in a row.





Omer Riza:

“Hopefully we bring in 2-3 more players in , we’ve brought one in, but their wont be anymore new players in before Saturday.”

“But we do need a few more players.”

Omer: “It’s brilliant for @aaronramsey. It’s nice to see him back on the pitch training.

“Today was his first day back with the group. He’s got to complete full training and he’ll be down to play some U21 minutes. Hopefully after that we can reintroduce him.”



Omer Riza: “It’s important we don’t rush Ramsey back as he is an important player for us.”





Omer Riza: “The board have been really good and I’ve suggested a number of players I want, and hopefully they are in the pipeline and they get them for me.”

Omer made five changes to the starting XI that defeated Swansea City in the South Wales derby last time out, with some enforced changes and some rotation.

“We had injuries v Millwall, with Callum O’Dowda out, Alex Robertson was ill and Ollie Tanner took a nasty knock on his foot against Swansea, so we had to make five changes. Our squad is there for that purpose, we have a good squad to do this.”

Cardiff City manager Omer Riza has been charged with misconduct following the Championship match against Swansea City on Saturday 18th January.

It is alleged that he acted in an improper and/or confrontational manner around the 92nd minute and after being sent off.

Riza has until Friday 24th January to issue a response.

Derby County’s manager is Paul Warne, who was appointed in September 2022.

Warne is under pressure after his team has lost the last six games in a row and have slid down the Championship to beneath Cardiff City.


Warne took over as Caretaker Manager of Rotherham United in November 2016 and was appointed on a full-time basis in January 2017.

During his time at the Millers, Rotherham were relegated and promoted to the Championship on three different occasions. He won promotion in 2018, 2020 and 2022.

In September 2022, Warne left Rotherham and dropped down to League One to take charge at Derby County.

He was unable to guide the Rams to promotion in his first season in charge, but led the club to promotion back to the Championship the following year as runners-up.

Warne has a win record percentage of 46.51%, winning 60 of his 120 games in charge of Derby County.

Derby County head into this weekend’s action sat 20th in the Sky Bet Championship.

Our visitors have struggled on the road this season, picking up seven out of a possible 42 points away from home.

The Rams are without a win in six, in fact six defeats in a row , with their last victory coming against West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day.

‘He’s a fresh face and a humble young man. A hungry player is a dangerous player and he wants to do well. He’s getting along with the players and he’s mature for his age. It was a great moment for him on Tuesday, a good start for him. Hopefully the first of many.’
