Omer Riza:
“It’s brilliant for Aaron Ramsey. It’s nice to see him back on the pitch training.
Today was his first day back with the group. He’s got to complete full training and he’ll be down to play some U21 minutes. Hopefully after that we can reintroduce him.”
“It’s important we don’t rush Ramsey back as he is an important player for us.”

Here we go again.
Huge asset to us if he can keep himself fit, but it's difficult to see that happening.

Obviously I feel gutted for any injured City player and I wish him well. But he has been a hugely disappointing signing and I have in my own mind written him off this season and probably as a city player. However if he plays for Wales in match I will be absolutely furious. If he was fit to play at that time it should only be for selection for his club. It will be a kick in the teeth if he plays for wales

He definitely needs to be reintroduced, he's been away so long the rest of the team have forgotten who he is.....

Are you saying that no player should ever play for their country or only Cardiff City players shouldn't or only Ramsey? It's a little confusing. Now if you're saying he shouldn't be available for Wales if he isn't available for us then I would agree 100% but if he's available for both, I don't see an issue as most players want to play for their country when fit. He certainly shouldn't be risking an injury in a meaningless friendly if that's all we have.
He should either retire or move into the other side of the club as he clearly loves this club & would be a great ambassador for us, even manager one day in the future if he wants to go that route.

He was always coming back end January so he will be fit for both city and Wales fit for one your fit for other...... as for retirement unless he as change of heart he will not be retiring because he wants another WC ? So he either gets a new contract of sorts or he goes elsewhere!

Sorry for the confusion gents. What I mean is if he plays little league football before the Wales games he shouldn’t play for Wales due to the very real chance of breaking down again. If he did and broke down I would be fuming if he could not play for the city afterwards bearing in mind we have seen little of him in our colours and he takes home a large salary.
Hope this is more clear gents.

Yes makes sense but it's not upto rambo how much he plays that's upto riza! The other thing is the games in March are big games gor Wales so you'd expect rambo to play at least one of the two or maybe a part in both games?

Totally agree.

Still don’t believe we will see him in a City shirt again I’m afraid (1st team).
Can never take away that he’s been one of the best players to have come out of City, but it’s time to hang the boots up.
I do agree with Brezza. If he gets himself back to fitness, but goes and gets himself injured playing for Wales before even playing for City then it won’t go down well.

Well there's only one answer for him to move away end season? People don't seem to grasp he wants to play in WC and to do that he needs to be playing not coaching! So unless he changes his mind at end season he wont be a coach at city ..... and seeing as most on here dont want him to have new contract a move away is only answer unless someone as a better solution?

Allan I think a lot of it would depend on his monetary asks in terms of staying with us.
A coaching role where he has an appearance fee if he’s fit would make sense.
But I doubt he would take that

I think it’s too easy to write players off and whilst I can see the near futility of Rambos time so far at the CCS, I think some show him some disrespect for what he has achieved in football to date
Personally, I would see how it goes until the end of the season and take it from there; with another (adjusted) playing contract not beyond his grasp and a place on our coaching staff, maybe with the youngsters to start, being pretty obvious
I’m sure Aaron himself will know when it’s time to hang up his playing boots…!

Yes contract would not be same as now that's for sure.... player coach may work Rooney tried it at Derby and played a lot of games even if was a money laundering excersise for ffp.... but as I've said rambo clearly wants to play in WC and I don't subscribe to view on here he's finished....international and club appearances go hand in hand and he's not the 1st player to get injured comes back and plays for club/country shortly after returning.... City either needs to make a reasonable offer or he will go elsewhere simple as that..

I get what you're saying Chris, but we're entitled to be frustrated when he's only played 17 league games in 18 months.
That's also the reason some are not confident he'll play for us again.
He's on good money too. If it was anyone other than Aaron Ramsey, they'd receive a lot of criticism for those stats, shouldn't be any different for him.

If he gets match fit and comes back into the fray then great. I just hope that Riza doesn't feel the need/pressure to always then pick him. Ramsey's gotta earn the right to get back into this team. You sense that we've turned a corner results wise and I hope Ramsey doesn't put the breaks on that.

Spot on again Worcester. It’s no disrespect to Rambo but the fact is he has played so little. Also what is all this love in? Who says he will make a good coach? It’s not for everybody.

I thought I read somewhere that he had started doing his coaching badges but if I'm wrong then maybe that's not a route he wants to take, whatever he does is ultimately up to him & I for one wish him all the best whatever he chooses to do.

I think it’s probably going to be his last season. I can’t see anc club offering him a contract (unless it’s a pay if you play deal)
Fri Jan 24, 2025 10:58 am
He's only training ready for the Wales games then he will be out again so don't build any hopes up
Fri Jan 24, 2025 11:28 am
I would always take him as a pay as you play deal but we can't be wasting wages on someone who never plays.
I have a feeling he's just holding out to see how Wales does then he will retire.
