PNE urged to go for Robinson?

Sat Jan 25, 2025 8:45 am

an article on FLW urging PNE to go in for Robinson this summer should he become a free agent, probably just paper talk but begs the question, would you want Robinson to leave this summer or should the club try to get him to extend his contract with city?

50/50 on this one.

Yes he's had a great season so far in terms of goals.

But he's had fitness issues and will be 30 next month.

There's a good chance that his fitness issues will get worse soon and he's unlikely to accept just a one year contract.

I think, whether he stays with us or goes elsewhere, he will have to take a pay cut.

it is a tricky one and like you I am 50/50, if we extend I worry age will catch up with him and he will start missing huge chunks of the season but if we let him walk I worry we won't replace him with equal quality

Based on now, clearly we keep but as you’ve said, depends on fitness, wage demands and any potential replacement lined up.

We would be crazy to let him go. Without his goals we would be relegated.

It’s so hard to find someone to score goals in this league and who would want to come to a struggling side.

10 goals in 21 games, we need to keep him 100%.

Agree try and slash out a 1 Yr deal with a 1yr extension if.. ? Certain criteria hit number of games that season etc

Totally agree. We all know how hard it is to find a goal scorer so we’d be crazy to let him go.

he has scored 16 goals in 2.5 seasons, 10 of those this season. He is hitting a bit of form but it may disappear at any moment.

There will be a question of who plays as a second striker/10/AMC soon. Robinson, Robertson, Rubin, Joel, Ashford, Davies or maybe someone else.

He isn't my type of footballer and my concern is he has downed tools before and if he doesn't get an extension, what will we see?

You make a good point. I don't think Robinson is a striker, he never has been. He is a number ten.

I expect him to start up front today because Salech probably isn't ready to start but, if he stays, his position for us going forward should be just behind the striker.

Robertson is just as capable of playing a little further back so Robinson can take that position.

Robinson is the best CF at the club
Extend - it's a no brainer
North end can do one
