Callum Robinson bags his 11th of the season
11 Goals + 3 Assists in 23 appearances
And Robinson is out of contract this Summer ???
Hierarchy show some ambition for next season, offer a New Contract Now:
Callum is 29 yrs old now mature and prime, 3-4 good years left.
For some reason Bulut never liked Robinson, but then Bulut fell out with so many of our players.

I am torn, he is in a purple patch, and perhaps he is injury free, but i can't forget the two previous seasons.
We have a 23 & 21 year old big center forwards, we seem to be drifting back to direct, controlled aggression, and physical (Cardiff City

) even Citeh are going long as teams set traps for the obligatory passing out from the back.
Then i don't see where Robinson fits. If he is the second striker then we weaken our midfield. We may get away with it if we find a left sided version of Ashford who wins a lot of physical battles, but the backs up need to be the same as well.
I like that position to be a midfielder who has an eye for goal Jordan Mutch, the Spanish lad whose name escapes me, or even a certain Aaron Ramsey.
I think that was Robertson's worst game for us yesterday, probably still feeling the effects of the illness that is in the camp, but as soon as he went off and CR dropped in Ebou Adams was strolling out like Rodri.
Am i right in thinking he is our highest earner, 30 next week and scored 6 goals in the two previous seasons.

Bottom line here is you can't argue with the current stats. CR47 is our best striker - where would we be without the those 11 goals?
Early days for Salech but he looked a right handful when he came on, winning headers (something many of our other strikers can't do!), and coming close to scoring.

I think they should gave CR a new contract his goals have given us a lifeline he our best striker at the moment I get the feeling he loves the bluebirds

Six of his eleven goals have been in his last six games.
But you also can't ignore he's the joint third highest scorer in the league.
He's clearly on a hot streak at the moment. I do have my doubts that will continue to the end of the season but more than happy to be wrong (as usual) on that.
As for a new contract, he's 30 next month and his fitness can't be relied on. Has been known to have attitude problems as well.

Ned,
The Point is play him in the right position and give him service and he’s done the business.
If we let him go, Do you really believe this Hierarchy will pay say £4mill-£6mill to replace him??

No I get that and I don't think the board will be spending a lot of money on players.
But he has already had his injury problems.
I also don't think his best position as a striker, never have. We saw in the last 20 minutes yesterday that the rest of the season will see him playing just behind Salech, I think he plays better there.
If he took a pay cut and would accept one extra year I would keep him but not on big money or a long term contract because of his fitness.

I cannot believe what I am reading on some of these comments, Robbo is our star player he was badly managed by last manager he has proved that. You can see he loves playing for us without his goals and his passion playing for us this season we would be bottom of the league going into league 1 and lost to the jacks twice again.
Extend his contract a player like him would cost more than the club can afford he does something for us others could not do score goals.
Any player can get injured it is a risk with any player but Robbo has saved us this season without doubt.

Wrexham want Robbo apparently.
I think he has signed a new contract though ………..

When was the last time we had someone who scored goals in their double figures? He should be offered a new contract

Interesting.
If he misses 10-15 games next season, I guarantee those who are saying he needs to be offered a new contract will be the same ones saying "we shouldn't have given him a new contract because of his age."
If it's one or two years on reduced pay, I'm not against it. But if it's three years and the same money he's on now, it's a huge gamble that could backfire.

The money he paid is of no business to us fans in my opinion I’m not paying him. As a footballer if he was playing for Leeds scored the same amount of goals and we signed in June we would be over the moon with the player we got and the boards clear ambition to sign one of the leagues top scorers, which we been crying out for.
Let’s support the team and the players, he by far our most valuable player for what he does for the team. He loves it when the kids score he is a legend.

Well I would say it should matter to fans what players are being paid, it's often brought up with Ramsey etc.
He is one of the highest earners at the club and he will have to take a pay cut to stay.
Not doubting his ability at all. You can't argue with six goals in six games.
But just making the point that he's nearly 30 so will have more injury problems. He has issues with his fitness already.
People will be quick to complain if we give him another big contract but he spends most of next season injured.
In any case, I wouldn't expect news any time soon. Players are probably waiting to find out what league we'll be in before they extend their contract.

Agree 100%. The same people who criticise the Board for lack of a long term strategy are shouting for a contract for a 30 yr old (next week)who has just had a purple patch of goalscoring. His career record shows his scoring is not prolific at all. If we are honest his contribution without the ball is very limited (challeging and closing down). Good luck to him atm. but maybe only 12 month extension on our terms.
Ps Salech and this new young lad from Ajax seem very promising and they are players who (with luck) will only improve.

But it’s always good to have more than one option in this position. Most importantly, it’s nice to have strikers with different skill sets that may be more suited against certain opponents.
He can definitely get us goals, just needs a manger like we have right now, who understands how to play him. Bulut wasted his talents.

Spot on. People seem to forget he was out best player and top scorer in a struggling side in his first season here until he had a bad injury.
Bulut played him as a 10 which he isn't and then persisted with Etete and Meite up front most of last season which was criminal seeing what Robbo is doing now again in a side that is struggling.
He has earned a new deal, with every contract renewal comes a risk even a youngster could pick up a season ending injury.
Bottom line I would be massively disappointed if he wasn't here next season.
Sun Jan 26, 2025 8:24 pm
Do you reckon his agent would accept a reduced wage but incentivised through appearance, goals and assists and of course a massive relegation reduction?
Nor me.
IMO they are not talking until we find out where we are playing next season
Sun Jan 26, 2025 9:09 pm
If we let Robinson go it will be a big mistake.
We won’t replace those goals, we do not spend big or wise enough to.
Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:02 pm
11 goals in a team in a relegation a battle .I think that speaks for its self .
The guy can finish he knows where the back of the net is he plays with a smile .id definitely keep him he's done brilliantly for us he had a great pre season and he's doing the business

Agree and pleased by the way the players are getting results of late

Without him this season we would be right in the shite.
He has the best Goals per Minute ratio in the league based on players who have scored 6 or more goals, and the stats don’t lie regardless of if the majority of his goals have come from the last 6 games.
To replace him it would cost money, which we all know the board will be reluctant to spend.
That being said, he’s not always been as happy here as he seems now and that has come out in his attitude from time to time. If he drops behind Salech as the starter upfront, will he be disruptive?
Injury wise he’s also had his fair share and he isn’t getting any younger. We may end up with another Ramsey.
Personally I think he’s warranted another year, but at lower wages than he gets now with maybe a big scoring bonus to entice him.

I wouldn't put a bonus for scoring more goals in a player's contract as he is more likely shoot at goal than pass to a player in a better position.
Mon Jan 27, 2025 12:52 pm
He will get offers as there’s no transfer fee. They can offset that cost of transfer fee across his signing on fee and wages.
Therefore to match that, I’m guessing we would need to offer him something like £20k a week with a decent signing on fee over three years.
Do we want to commit to that?
I distinctly remember, at various times, people saying his current wage was a waste of money.
Much like Tomlin, who got into shape and played really well leading up to his contract expiration which led to demands to give him a contract, this could also prove to be a mistake.
Mon Jan 27, 2025 7:16 pm
Have a look at their goal on Saturday and tell me you think Ebou Adam doesn't stroll out like Rodri with Robertson rather than Robinson at the attacking midfield role.
Since Robertson has shored up that position we have been much more solid whilst still scoring. Its not a free role and you have to get your foot in and run hard. It's too attacking and not solid enough with a luxury player there!
Mon Jan 27, 2025 7:38 pm
Tough one, isn't it? I'm torn. He seems to love the club, and was vocal about him stuggling with niggly injuries and feels back to himself this season.
He's tried and tested, but also can be poor at times.
Difficult call, hopefully Riza has a plan.
