Statement from Meite :

I always feel he works hard, I don't think it's fair the abuse he's been getting.

I would challenge any to act differently to the kind of abuse he's had to put up with. Some posters on here cry for a lot less.

Re: Statement from meite

Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:22 pm

Meite works extremely hard. We should just support him.

Re: Statement from meite

Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:22 pm

I do not think our supporters should ever abuse our own players and should never inbox them that is wrong.

However going on cardiff supporter sites is a gamble for players as we all have different views on players I think players should not go on sites in case of views they do not like.

Sadly if Meite feels like that towards our supporters then he should leave I get frustrated with him as he was brought in to score goals and he has not done that for us sorry Meite if you are offended by that

Re: Statement from meite

I'm all for criticising players performances and I have done so with Meite many times (including yesterday).

But, as I said last week, I have seen many people cross the line on that. People saying things that are totally out of order.

I'm pleased he's given this explanation because now it's clear why he's been going straight down the tunnel and really, I don't blame him.

But he hasn't put this out because of criticism of his performances.

It's because people are having a go at him with words that are unrelated to football. I think it's obvious what that means.

It's out of order - I said this last week but some people pretended that this horrible abuse he's getting wasn't happening.

Re: Statement from meite

I feel for the guy. What he really needs is our support as fans. Like the march said support the players. The bigger picture here is other players will know this and think twice about signing for us. I for one don’t think he’s is our worse player at all. But you look at the players that have received by far the worst abuse and are having below par performances they all come from a similar background.

100% correct Worcester. We will get a reputation soon for this.

Re: Statement from Meite :

I personally don’t think he is good enough, BUT I am totally against any personal abuse and he does not deserve this as he does give 100% effort.

Out of order abuse.

Re: Statement from Meite :

I will always criticise any player including Meite if their performance is not good, but as for the idiots that send him insulting private messages then that’s below the belt.

Re: Statement from Meite :

I can't have this, I like Yak but its social media, not the ground! Surely there's a difference, he seems to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I am 30 years older than him and swerved social media but understand its benefits and downfalls. He is two people, LaBrute the commodity wanting to talk to his audience and Yakou with his friends and family.

If I were a professional footballer i'd have two accounts and ignore or block messages from the public football account and not be worried about what people i don't know say about me.

Nearly every football fan is an emotionally driven idiot who spouts utter bollox and knows nothing. We have fans who were slagging Robinson in December now thinking we should give him the keys to the city, a few dry games and they'll be back berating him. Football is fickle, football fans are goldfish. (Me included)

If he has it bad, he ought to be Rubin Collwill or the late great Whitts.

I think he is frustrated that this stint should have worked, I love a big physical player, Cardiff recently has been a power team, but for some reason it hasn't and hitting out at the wrong people and potentially making it worse.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:59 pm

His comments are fair enough. No need for personal abuse. He always seems to try his best, and thats important. But its not really worked out for him.Nor sure if he is good enough for Championship. Wish him the best of luck here or elsewhere.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 2:03 pm

He’s a professional footballer and he will be criticised if he doesn’t put in a performance. I’m sure he is aware of that and is able to deal with that.

What he shouldn’t be getting though is abuse unrelated to football. I’m sure we can all imagine some of the words and phrases he may be on about.

If so, that’s not on and it’s disgusting.

He may not be the best footballer out there but what he lacks, he tries to make up with 100% effort every time he plays. Can’t fault his effort.

Rubin has more "he is shit" "oh no he isn't" threads than any other player. Back in the day, Whitts who was a genius was constantly berated for not being messi. He came off social media.

Ralls has been the whipping boy for most of the last decade. That side is part of the rough and tumble of professional football, you need to have a strategy. Mine would be look at my bank account, smile and ignore public social media.

It's a bit difficult to smile it away when you're getting abuse that has nothing to do with football and is racist.

I often criticise Meite's performances but what some people say to him is totally out of order.

Often criticise Rubin but I have never been personal with my criticism towards him.

There is no excuse for what some have said to Meite.

I think you missed the point mate. It’s non related football abuse as mentioned.
I.E racial abuse. You may not have missed the point apologies if I am wrong, you may just find that acceptable.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Any racial abuse is uncalled for although he's a shit player in my opinion and shouldn't be anywhere near the team but anything else shouldbt even better mentioned if people have been sending him racist messages then that's shocking if true tbh

Re: Statement from Meite :

The worst part about all this is you still have people on Twitter trying to defend their actions.

Some of our supporters are honestly an absolute joke, who no doubt would shit their pants if confronted by Meite.

Alright, the guy hasn’t been brilliant for us in terms of his G/A.

But, you can’t deny when he plays on the pitch, he gives it everything he has.
He always had time for supporters too, it’s disappointing. The guy’s confidence must be absolutely rock bottom.

Probably a section of our “entitled” fan base, started supporting during the Prem days.

Social media will always have abusive idiots, but if anyone is getting and personal and direct to a player, they can stay far away from this club. No need for it.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 2:52 pm

I now he’s not a championship player league 1 at best he does work hard but not technically gifted but that’s as far as it goes I’m sorry he feels like this and nobody should be going outside football with their comments

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:04 pm

I will never criticise a player for not being good enough. I will criticise though for not giving 100%

What do I mean by that?

Well it is a sad state of affairs that previous managers, and indeed owners of our club, have brought players into the squad who simply are not up to the level of a side seeking promotion to the EPL.

That is not their fault

If any of us were offered £15-25000 per week to do the job we do (irrespective as to whether we were good enough) we would take the money and I don't blame any footballer for doing so.

A player can give 100% and not be effective enough. That is not the players fault - that is the clubs fault - because they should have aimed higher in their recruitment.

Before joining us Meite scored in 1 in 4 games for Reading and then 1 in 10 for Sochaux.

On the basis of this our Management (or "mismanagement committee") decided he was the right player to score us goals.

I cant blame Meite for that.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:35 pm

Got to feel sorry for the guy.
He never should have been played up front as a striker.
But like so many before our current form were also getting stuck and abuse.
But of late when he comes on as a sub on the wing.
I actually think he puts in a good shift.
He works hard to get the ball and puts in good tackles makes runs and defended a cross into the box the other week heading it out wich was in a dangerous position.
Goutas even taped him on the arm in recognition for it.
Trouble is he's not the only one that gets it.
Chambers, Robinson, Ramsey, Tanner, Colwil, Siopis, Rails and now NG.
Have all taken a beating on here.
Let alone what they get else where.

They are your players.
We've gone through some crap.
So have they not knowing what's going on themselves.
Time City fans cut them all some slack in my opinion.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:04 pm

Totally against the abuse , but that’s a small amount of our fan base , and some may not even be our fans like we see on here now and then people pretending to be city fans. He’s taking it out on the whole of our fan base and I don’t think that’s right either.

I couldn't disagree more.

Fans are entitled to criticise players for their performances. A lot of them haven't been good enough for most of the season and, when they don't perform well, we will continue to criticise them.

It's the abuse he's received which isn't acceptable.

But fans have the right to criticise players for their performances - that's not what this is about.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:41 pm

Criticism is fine, everyone has different opinions.

No one should be sending abuse or inboxing players.

Re: Statement from Meite :

Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:27 pm

It’s wrong if some of our fans are sending messages to him personally, and I imagine it’s no more than a handful. Unfortunately on social media it’s part of being in the public eye. let’s be honest though he doesn’t help himself when he hardly ever scores, but when he does get a goal he makes a gesture towards his own fans.
