Siopis will leave with NO Fee involved, but he is a high earner cutting the wages dramatically.


Cardiff City midfielder Manolis Siopis is on the brink of sealing a permanent move back to Greece, with Super League giants Panathinaikos closing in on his signature.

The Bluebirds moved heaven and earth to get the Greece international to Cardiff in the summer of 2024, a deal which effectively saw the player buy out his own contract at Trabzonspor to force a move to the Welsh capital and link up with his old Alanyaspor boss Erol Bulut.







Siopis is off back home to Greece in the next day or so - Panathinaikos I think

If true, I'm not all that surprised.

He was very much a Bulut signing and came in because of him. Now that Bulut is gone, he may want to go back home. Not going to be starting many now that Mannsverk is in.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Goutas wants to go back to Europe at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Interesting - Let's see how this plays out in the next few days ...

Yet he had a great game against England in the win against them.

Be a shame cause he can do a job for us but can understand he wants first team football which looks more unliklely with Chambers in MF and the new MF comming in

Cant fault his effort when he did play

Did a decent job for us during a difficult period.

Certainly can’t fault him for effort and seemed a good influence in the dressing room and was very enthusiastic. Championship probably a bit too physical for him.

This move is probably good for us and him. Let’s hope Goutas doesn’t follow !!

Would like goutas to stay and not follow. Think he will leave us in summer if his contract is up and back to Greece or Turkey....Will find has a big part maybe next year

Gave 100%. In certain games he was quality, in others the championship was too much for him.

Not first name on the team sheet, is he? Been a fringe player for the last few months.

Effort wise he was brilliant.

Never a lack of effort and started out brilliant when he first came, but ultimately found it a bit difficult when we changed how we played.

Would be logical for him to want to move back to Greece, best of luck to him.

A bit gutted he's going coz hes a quality player. Had a feeling this would happen though. Hopefully the new guy will mean we won't miss him too much.

Deal may not have been possible with a fee in involved. You have to remember he's 30 so doesn't have many years left in the tank, given the way he plays.

Also have to remember that he didn't want to stay, ever since Bulut left.

He worked hard for us.

But as has been said, I think this is a transfer that works for everyone.

He gets to go back to his homeland and we are able to bring in a couple of more additions.

Also like his previous clubs he makes clubs including City agree that he can leave, his wages were massive.


So so far we have saved massive money and No money out over all.

He always worked hard, wish him well

If we are not getting a fee for him, I hope we will be bringing someone in else (not a loan) with the wages we are saving.

Will Goutas follow him is the big question?

Second season syndrome as had a cracking debut season but bit inconsistent this term.
Cracking player for us who never gives less than 100% so good luck to him and he does well .

[Sio gave 100 per cent every game chased everything he was everywhere on the pitch as a fan we can't ask for much more .Good luck to the man

I’m a big fan of his and loved his energy.

He won possession back so many times but his distribution was poor at times too.
Would have been a great squad player.

Panathinaikos is a big club so can’t blame him.

Out of the two, however, I’d rather keep Goutas. Hope he stays.
