CALLUM ROBINSON SIGNS TWO YEAR NEW CONTRACT

CALLUM O'DOWDA SIGNS THREE YEAR NEW CONTRACT

JAK ALNWICK SIGNS ONE YEAR NEW CONTRACT

We are pleased to confirm that City trio Callum Robinson, Jak Alnwick and Callum O’Dowda have all put pen to paper on extended stays with the Bluebirds.

Having scored a brilliant brace in our recent South Wales derby win, forward Robinson has agreed a two-year extension which will keep him in South Wales until the summer of 2027.

The Republic of Ireland international is our top scorer having netted eleven goals this season, his best tally since joining the Bluebirds back in the summer of 2022.

Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Robbo said: “It’s been a good start to the year. I’ve been working really hard, starting in the off-season and the aim was to get back in the team originally, then get back scoring goals. I wanted to earn myself a new deal and I’m so grateful that it’s happened.

“We’ve got some really good young players and that’s why I wanted to continue here. I feel like we can push on. We had a tough start to the season but since then we’ve been stable, and in the last few weeks we’ve been really strong – hopefully that can continue.”

The aforementioned 3-0 win over our South Wales rivals also saw shot-stopper Alnwick trigger a one-year extension to his contract, which now takes his deal in the Welsh capital up to the summer of 2026.

The goalkeeper has worn the captain's armband on 18 occasions throughout the campaign, recording five clean sheets so far this term.

Jak commented: “I knew it was coming for the Swansea game, and what a way to sign it off. It didn’t come any better than that – clean sheet, three points and three goals. Getting that extra year, I’m delighted I’m going to be staying here longer now.

“I got a feeling when I first came down here, the way the Club have supported me, the fans, everything about the place, it gives you a feeling of home. I think everyone who plays for this Club, they always come back and visit, whether they eventually retire or live here, which is a credit to the Club and the city. It’s a special place and for me to be able to stay longer; I can’t wait. Hopefully we can finish the season strong, and next season we can really kick on.”

Having recently made his 75th appearance for the Club, fellow Irishman O’Dowda has signed a three-year extension in South Wales, which runs until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.

The versatile, left-sided man has scored five goals and recorded seven assists since joining City back in the 2022 summer window.

He said: “I’m delighted. I think everyone can tell how much I’ve loved this city and representing the Club over the past two and a half years. I’m really happy to get it over the line and kick on now.

“Coming to Cardiff City, it was a time in my career that revived everything for me. I’d say the love for the game and coming to a city like this, it brought it all back for me. The way the Club have been, the fans, a special thanks to everyone who has gotten it over the line. I’ve really enjoyed living here with my family and friends and it’s a special place to me now. I can see the vision and direction of the Club, it’s up to myself to try and drive that with the boys now.”

Bluebirds boss Omer Riza added: “I’m delighted. It’s nice to get it over the line; it’s been in the process for a few weeks. They are really important players, who have done a great job this season. They are part of what we want to have moving forwards.

“For me, fundamentally, it’s important that we’ve got a good group of people. All three of them are a credit to themselves and their families. We’ve got a lot of young players here, and people look up to them because they do things properly. Hopefully we can move forward together.”

Got to be pleased with this. Good to have these three tied down to stay at the club.

Alnwick made GK position his own.

Slight worry about the injury record of Robinson and O'Dowda, but their quality means it's good business to extend the contracts.

Good move. Robinson and O dowda have quality, although injury record is a worry, especially with Callum
Alnwick has worked hard to secure the number one jersey and deserves his contract :bluescarf:

While this is all great news & I would be very happy for Goutas to sign a new contract I fear he will leave us once his current contract ends if only because he came for Bulut & might want to go home.

Super news and all 3 are ones we want to keep. O dowda for me is player of year so far and Robinson has proven effective this season. Alnwick is decent but I think a better keeper next season could be looked at

Surprised by the 3 years for O’Dowda but I think he actually cares and at points has single handedly driven us forward
Robinson isn’t my type of player, he isn’t anything but a striker he can’t play 10 as it leaves us under manned in midfield, but he gives us options off the bench or tactically if we don’t need a big lad
Alnwick contract was a trigger on games played, he looks comfortable with the ball but his distribution is so slow it’s offers us nothing. Howsrth is a bettter

Actually I disagree regarding Alnwick.
If his distribution is slow it’s down to the manager and the way he wants to play but I agree that it would be nice for him to speed things up occasionally for a counter attack.

Regarding Howarth, he always looks nervy to me and I think Alnwick is by far the better keeper.

With you in this! Need Goutas to follow suit now! :ayatollah:

It was a good move to tie Kion Etete down before he went out on loan too, as we could now get an U-23 fee, if he were to leave in the summer

Sorry i double-posted this morning and deleted the wrong thread. What i was going to say is Howarth is a better shot-stopper as I can barely recall Alnwick making anything other than regulation championship save. We need better if we are to progress

Agree.

People talk about Alnwick's saves but he rarely makes a save which I wouldn't expect him to make.

We need better in the summer.
