Anwar El Ghazi:
“I will never forget Cardiff for this. I’m very grateful for the opportunity they gave me and even the fans, they support me. That’s why I feel really at home here. I’m very grateful to be here.”
Would you extend his contract? It expires in the summer.
I think he's been much better in the last couple of games. Changed the game against Derby.
Would definitely offer him a new contract.

Yes, he was a gamble when he joined as he had not played for so long, but the more games he has had the better he looks.
A definite yes from me.
Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:38 pm
Yes I think he will get better and better .
Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:40 pm
100%, he is good now and you can tell he isn't up and running still.
Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:44 pm
Yes. After a long time out of the game, he's starting to show what he can do.
I think he will get even better too.
Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:53 pm
I think he’d benefit from playing with Salech where he’d be able to sling some of his excellent crosses into the box as he did at Millwall.
Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:54 pm
I certainly would but I doubt very much that he's going to stay here. We knew when we signed him that it was only for a season so that he could get back to fitness etc. & I don't think that's changed.

Agree. Be great if we could keep him. But feel he could go elsewhere.

Yes

Bottled a one on one with keeper at Oxford when 70/30 in his favour. Haven't got him on the pitch enough to justify his wages. Played well last couple of games to be fair. IMO I wouldn't renew.

Not so sure. He's 30 in May so I can't see many bigger clubs being desperate to sign someone at that age.

If he would accept a new contract then yes.
I don’t see him staying here though unfortunately.

There will be plenty of bigger clubs happy to sign a el ghazi playing to his full potential.

Absolutely not 2 half decent games in 6 months?
Been a complete and utter disappointment
Massive wages on a football mercenary it’s a definite no from me!!

You may well be right to be fair, I hope we at least offer him something though.

I'm not so sure. I don't know if he's fully at home in the championship.
For example, I'd be more annoyed if Tanner left. Which sounds insane when I read it back.
We know he's quality and probably a level above; but he hasn't really shown it over the course of the minutes he's had.
He looks alot better recently though.

Yes, now he’s fully fit and getting back to his normal self, we will see the quality he has by the end of this season.
Great idea.
Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:29 am
My god he has knocked 4 decent crosses in 30 games into the season and bigger clubs will come in for him?
The Oxford game wasn’t that long ago!
Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:57 am
I've not seen enough to warrant giving him a new contract.
He's played really well in the few cameos he's had off the bench recently...but otherwise he's been poor.
See how the next month or 2 goes for me before we throw money at him.
It's Ashfords contract we need to be looking at first. I don't think it runs out this year but gotta tie him down long term coz he's been superb lately.

I’ll start by saying I wasn’t a fan initially. But His footballing brain stands out a mile, with his positioning and running off the ball and lately you can see the accuracy of his crossing.
And yes he does bottle some challenges, but he’s a winger and he’s nearly 30. And most wingers of all ages bottle challenges.
But with the ball at his feet he’s taken a long time to get things together. Let’s be honest he looked clumsy and lost possession literally every time in a lot of matches. But he seems to be getting there on those aspects.
That time he had out of the game obviously shows how easily a player loses the higher skill set needed at this level.
If I was managing him I’d be saying, we’ve helped you rehabilitate and get back into the game, show me fully between now and the end of season what you can do and I’ll give you a 2 yr contract.

I certainly wouldn’t extend his contract after a couple of decent sub appearances as for 90% of the games he’s been very poor.
Let’s see how he performs from now until the season ends before a new contract is offered.

Think people misread the OP it is about contract at end of season.... by then we should know if he's back to something like is best certainly he's a cut above others we have but got to prove it ..

Spot on Allan.
Usual suspects twisting it.
Totally agree with you.
His quality will eventually shine out and City then can make their minds up.

Class is permanent….if he can stay fit then I think he will start to show us consistently what he can do.
He underperformed when the whole team did so I would definitely want him to stay particularly as Robbo has signed a new contract .
Sat Feb 01, 2025 11:53 am
Has looked far more confident in the last 2 games and his game impact has gone up.
Not a suprise after being out for so long. If he continues to improve then we may have a fight to keep him.
Sat Feb 01, 2025 11:54 am
For me too early to offer one....towards end of season depending on form for me. Let's not forget he is on massive wages and thus far we haven't had much back. Last two subs and hopefully today show his fitness is back and we can get best from him.

Exactly my point allan.
There’s plenty of time for the manager to make that decision.

Yes and the same as my point mate.
Let’s see how he goes.

I'm 50/50 at the moment but hoping he sways me in wanting him to stay over the next few games.
We all know the quality is there, he needs to show us he can still deliver it on a regular basis.
Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:27 pm
I was massively excited about his signing but reality of away from football for so long and injuries with us has delayed us seeing his obvious quality.
He needs to it himself in shop window to not just offered a contract by us but other clubs. Likely his last big contract and pay day so we may benefit for rest of season
