The players should be the ones taking responsibility

Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:23 pm

If course there is an element of blame on the coaching staff today, particularly Shaw and Ramasut. They didn't set the team up properly.

But the bulk of the blame has to be on the players.

They just folded as soon as pressure was put on them and it was an embarrassing lack of effort.

I'm sure many will be quick to blame Riza but I'm more angry with the players than the manager.

Games like this are about character and too many drop their head and go missing, the new lad looked decent but up top we are still L1. Robinson is great if we are winning the midfield battle but we were simply overrun and outrun and he had to live off scraps which isn't his thing.
It just shows we still need reinforcements at all forward positions

It sounds like Salech and Mannsvert showed glimpses of what might be but they need help from the other 9 around them. I only hope this is a one-off and we can do a Nottingham Forest by getting a win in our next game! :ayatollah:

Ive been supportive of the manager but I think Riza has to carry the can on this one. Yes the players collapsed but they were set up to fail by the team selection, formation and tactics. Riza talked about strategy before the game. He had a week to prepare the team and to go with more or less the same starting line up as against Derby, which struggle in the first half, was madness. I’m all for having a go, but to get points against superior teams with in this league you sometimes have to set your team up to try and nullify their threat, even if it means parking the bus and looking to counter or get a goal from set plays etc. We were wide open and completely exposed all over the park, particularly by Leeds pace on the break. It was not a game for the front three of Robertson, El Ghazi and Ashford and Robinson and Ralls in the middle. Our goal difference has taken a massive hit and potentially the moral of the team going into a period of games against teams around us. I really hope Riza learns from this.

Not fair to compare us with Leeds whose squad are Premier league ready. The aim is to stay up not compete with Leeds and I think this squad can do that. We were 8 unbeaten.

Noooooo. Staying up is our current priority but FFS we are not Plymouth or Rotherham. We have decent crowds and sponsorship but the ownership has set our expectations so low now that it has gone back to the plucky Cardiff City we saw in the premier league

I like Riza don't get me wrong.
But I got the same feeling as I did with Rob Page with Wales.
