Ryan Mmaee is back at Stoke City after his loan deal with Rapid Vienna was ended by mutual consent.
The 27-year-old striker hasn't been able to play a competitive match for Rapid due to injuries since joining in early September. He had started the two previous games for Stoke but his exit was sanctioned as the Potters brought in Tom Cannon on loan from Leicester.
Steven Schumacher has since left Stoke, however, - and his replacement has left too, as well as Cannon - and new boss Mark Robins is prepared to welcome Mmaee back to cast his own eye over an international striker who is under contract until 2026.
Mmaee is nursing a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined until March but will then be a new option for Robins in an attack which has been reshaped over the last few weeks. Nathan Lowe has been recalled from an exceptional loan spell at Walsall, Ali Al-Hamadi has joined from Ipswich and Niall Ennis has left for Blackpool.

Stoke City had a fairly quiet winter transfer window in terms of incomings and outgoings, but the feeling is that they did business that needed to be done.
The 11pm deadline struck with only two new faces through the doors, but Stoke City made it three on Tuesday morning.
A deal for young midfielder Ruben Curley has been announced, bringing in him from Manchester United. Now, the blueprint for the youngster’s development has emerged.
The announcement of Curley’s arrival confirms he will link up with the Potters’ U21s, rather than coming straight into Mark Robins’ senior squad.
Curley pens a two-and-a-half-year deal as he joins from Manchester United, eager to build on his promising youth career and break into first-team football in the coming years. For now though, he’ll continue his development and big to catch the eye with the U21s.

Gallagher, Manhoef, Wilmot - Stoke City injury news as Mark Robins looks to clear treatment room
Mark Robins has had to handle a very tight squad since being appointed Stoke City manager as key players including Million Manhoef and Sam Gallagher have been struck by injury
Stoke City are hoping a crowded treatment room will start to empty this month to give Mark Robins half-a-dozen more options as he tries to pull the team away from the wrong end of the Championship.
Robins has yet been able to call on Eric Bocat, Ben Gibson, Jordan Thompson, Ben Pearson, Bosun Lawal and Million Manhoef to start a game since being appointed manager on New Year's Day. He lost Sam Gallagher in his first game in charge too, Sol Sidibe has since been ruled out, Ben Wilmot has missed the last two, Lewis Baker the last one with illness and Lynden Gooch limped off in the first half. Ryan Mmaee has returned to Stoke from loan while recovering from a hamstring problem too.
Stoke have still gone on a run of three wins, four draws and one defeat since Boxing Day. Specific updates are difficult because Robins is keen not to put certain dates on comebacks but the expectation that key players will start to come back sooner rather than later must have influenced a decision not to panic at the end of the transfer window.

Robins explained about his injury thinking recently: "Generally what happens now we say, ‘That’s that and it’s going to be that’ and I really don’t like it because it puts a thing in the player’s mind that it’s going to be four to six weeks so it’ll be four to six weeks. Rather than doing that, you know there is a certain amount of time it will take to heal and then you can manage the pain or how much you’re putting yourself at risk of another injury or a reinjury.
“I don’t like just saying, ‘It’s going to be this,’ because if they can shave some time off it, brilliant for everybody. Players miss playing and we need people fit. We’ve got to work our socks off to get them back and be available for us as often as they possibly can.”
Lawal is stepping up his fitness towards the end of a long road back from a stress fracture of his lower back picked up in the medical when he signed from Celtic in the summer. Medics in the summer had hoped he could be up and running within four weeks but in the end he had to rest for three months and scheduling haven't been kind over the winter.
He has needed to play minutes for the under-21s to try to get his sharpness back but they didn't have a game between mid-December and mid-January and Lawal has also had to take a place on the first team bench at times too because of other injuries. Still, he came through 60 minutes for the 21s last week and 70 this week. He could feature against Cardiff in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.
Pearson is having to be managed delicately too as he comes through the final stages of 10 months on the sidelines due to hamstring injuries. He has played 45 minutes twice for the 21s as he tries to trust his body again after so long out.

Stoke City’s manager is Mark Robins, who was appointed last month.
Following Robins' playing career, he became assistant manager at Rotherham United. After the departure of Alan Knill, Robins took charge as manager.
He impressed at the Millers, earning a move to Barnsley, who at the time were in the Championship. Robins kept the Tykes up, before leaving at the end of the 2010/11 season.
Robins went on to have a brief first stint at Coventry City before moving to Huddersfield Town. In his first season at the Terriers, he avoided relegation on the last day of the season.
Scunthorpe United appointed Robins in October 2014, but he was dismissed in early 2016 with the club six points above the League One relegation zone.
The former striker returned to Coventry City in March 2017. Robins had a successful spell at the Sky Blues, achieving promotion from League Two to the Championship, reaching a Play-Off Final and an FA Cup Semi-Final before his dismissal earlier this season.
Since taking charge at the Potters, Robins has won two games, drawn three and lost one.

Aaron Ramsey poised to return for Stoke City clash as two Cardiff City players ruled out -
Cardiff City boss Omer Riza has been speaking ahead of Saturday's fourth-round FA Cup tie at the bet365 Stadium
Aaron Ramsey is set to be in the Cardiff City squad for the first time since September when the Bluebirds travel to Stoke City for a fourth-round FA Cup tie on Saturday (3pm).
The return of the Cardiff skipper is a welcome boost for the Welsh club's FA Cup ambitions and Championship survival hopes. After being side-lined with a hamstring injury incurred while on international duty with Wales back in September, the ex-Arsenal and Juventus star now aims to build on his four appearances for Cardiff this season, but manager Omer Riza made clear the veteran midfielder is available for selection at Stoke.
Cardiff will be without two players this weekend, Ollie Tanner and Yakou Meite. Tanner has been out of action since the South Wales derby victory over Swansea due to a foot injury, and he recently shared a photo of himself wearing a protective boot. Meite was absent from last weekend's Leeds match.
Speaking about Tanner, Riza said: "We've had him in a boot as a precaution. He's had scans and stuff. Hopefully we'll know the outcome [soon]. He's injured at the moment and we'll see how long he'll be out in the future. We're not quite sure at the moment."
As for Meite, he added: "[Meite] has picked up a slight strain in his thigh. It isn't too bad hopefully. He should be alright for next week hopefully."

Frenetic start by both sides & Stoke have the ball in the net but it's flagged for offside.

Koumas has the ball in the back off the Bluebirds net, but the Welshman is adjudged to be in an offside position.

Looking at the two sides I would like to think we have a good chance today

Brilliant block from Joel Bagan to stop a dangerous strike. The hosts put in the rebound from an offside position, but the original shot would've counted. Great work from Joel.
