" Pleased with our business "

Mon Feb 03, 2025 11:05 pm

I've been more quiet that usual for deadline day as I am in Northern Ireland at the moment seeing friends. Been following the day's news as much as I can.

Just the one signing on the final day.

Overall I think our squad is stronger now than it was at the start of the month and that's the name of the game for January.

So I'm pleased with our business.

Now let's support the team and Riza :bluebird:

I hope your both right, as I and many others had never heard of any of the three new players and really can’t say until I’ve watched them a number of times for us and I don’t mean as substitute, I mean when finally fit and can start matches. I find it weird you can be happy with them when you also have not seen them play full matches for us.

Am I missing something?

Whoever we’d bought, we wouldn’t have seen them play yet though.
I’ve seen Salech and he looks better than anyone in that position in the club at present.
I’ve seen a snipit of the Norwegian guy who also looked good (as thought many who saw him on Saturday).
Alves is VERY highly thought of by PREMIER league Leicester.
That’s good enough for me.

I Reserve My Judgment as always, like I do Virtually with New Managers , after I’ve seen them play for us and settled in etc :bluebird: :bluebird:

For the Good of Our Club, I Wish All 3 to do well for us.

If they All do well , it will be a Good January, with a £Mill in, with up to 11 players sent out Saving the Wage bill as most we’re doing nothing for us , Riza will have done a good job on a Zero Budget.

I'm not pleased at all to be honest. 11 players gone although only siopis played really of them names gone out. The striker comes in which we always needed anyway for seasons in end , some kid who I've never heard of who will probably be a sub and some guy from Ajax who's untested and ain't played for ages as been injured.

For me if your signing players you need ones who are better than the current starting 11 who got us in this mess along with managers so to speak. I can not for the life of me grasp what the board are thinking these days. There's no ambition there no drive no vision wtf is going on.

Although we all want everyone to do well and finish as high as we can and we all support the starting 11 every game despite what we think of them for me if we are to climb the table we needed 1 or two more better signings as we could be in a dog fight at the bottom end untill the last game but we shall see if Riza and his "everyothifna groovy" talk shows out to be true or not although he's a mere puppet for the dictator and co despite what he really thinks which he would never say while landing on his feet for his biggest job yet due to the cheap opinion.

All we can do is support the team and get behind them to try stay up that's the aim :bluescarf:

Leicester fans saying Alves is a brilliant player, Salech adds to what we had, and Mannsverk sounds promising, we've lost no one we didn't want to bar potentially Siopis, so we've improved.

I have to agree with most of what you say as what we needed was two nailed on starters and not sure the three we have are as all are unproven in the Championship.

Plus our prioritiy signing should have been a LB

So the club go and get a centre forward - ok granted.
This fast kid from Leicester - granted.
But a CM which we don't really need

Hopefully they all make a good impact but I'm still concerned/ disappointed that we didn't get a LB.

I agree we needed nailed on starters, I could not underwe have brought in the first two who are not starting, a Striker who only been able to come on as Sub on 4 occasions.

We are in a Relegation Battle.

I'm reserving judgement.

All we have seen so far is the new striker who has started well. A lot will depend on him.

Re: " Pleased with our business "

At the time of writing, which you could argue that a decent January on the field but also counter that a 7-0 whipping has impact...

We are 15th in the division for goals scored (1.1). We were in the 20s when I posted stats from the same source around new years.

We are 22nd for goals conceded (1.7). Not much movement since new years.

If feels like we've addressed the attacking department, but not even linked with anyone to reduce goals against. That is my grumble this January.

However, shifting out Kanga was huge. Maintaining Meite and JC is not ideal as they arent any help at all. Moving Joel Colwill, Reindorf and Etete to L1 was good business.

A new striker, the boy from Ajax and a prospect is ok business for me. I just hope those 3 havent got a quit instinct in them like the 11 that started against Leeds.

It is what it is. Strap in, I feelnwe'll know our destiny by the end of this month

Some people seemed to have unrealistic expectations of the window so were never going to be pleased with it I don't think.

Did we sign what we desperately needed, a striker? Yes.

Did we lose any key players? No.

Did we strengthen the squad and is it stronger that it was at the end of December? Yes.

A good window.

Exactly Ian,

I personally had Never heard of Our 3 New Signings and can’t see how We can Praise them until they have played for us in a number of games.

Remember previous Managers Signings everyone was getting over excited and soon the same persons were Slating the Signings.

So let’s wait and see and hopefully get excited after We’ve Seen them play in the Championship.

So far None have even Started.

HOW CAN SOME SAY GREAT SIGNINGS / WHEN THEYVE NOT SEEN THEM IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP OR NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE?

I remember I got Slated for not being excited by Apparently at the time Kion Etete Spurs Striker, yet had Never played for them and look now where we’ve had to send him.

I have seen Mannsverk play which is why I said he's a good signing. Seen what Salech has done for us and impressed.

Leicester fans rate Alves and we should trust what other fans say.

Salech hasn't started because Robinson has been in brilliant form. Couldn't drop him.

Ned,

I will say this I love your positivity and if we have made 3 great signings with the squad we already have, I would expect to climb the Championship fast, not draws but Wins.

Riza has been in charge now for a long time and so many points available.

Riza says he is more than happy to.

Those 3 games after the FA Cup are vital that we get at least 6 points out of, but all three of those have improved, Pompey and Plymouth will be tough old games and the carrot crunchers will as always be who wants it most. I believe 9 points will do us good :bluebird:
