Their home form is fairly decent, I won't be too disappointed with a draw as that will mean we stay above them.

Pompey take on Cardiff City in a relegation six-pointer in the EFL Championship on Tuesday.
The officiating team for the the Blues’ all important meeting with the Bluebirds on Tuesday evening has been confirmed with Tom Nield taking charge of his second Pompey game this season.

As the likes of Cardiff City and Stoke City played in the FA Cup, Pompey played Sheffield United in the Championship and despite a brave performance, they left Bramall Lane empty handed. Cardiff had to play an extra 30 minutes as their tie against the Potters went to extra time, and so Pompey will be hoping that their players will be feeling fatigued for their midweek clash.

The two sides met in South Wales back in October and the hosts ran out 2-0 winners with Regan Poole scoring an own goal and then Callum Robinson doubled their advantage. It's pretty tight between the two teams in the table with Cardiff ahead of them by just a point. A win for Pompey would see them overtake Cardiff and potentially Stoke.

Pompey v Cardiff City referee confirmed -

Nield hails from West Yorkshire and this season he has overseen 23 mathes. In those games, he has brandished 95 yellow cards and one red, whilst awaiting two penalties, one of which was against Pompey with Will Norris fouling Tom Cannon in the 6-1 defeat to the Potters back in October.

Mark Dwyer and Greg Read will support the referee as linesmen whilst Andy Davies is the fourth official. This will be the third time that Nield has overseen a Cardiff match with a record of one draw and one defeat when officiating them. He was in charge of their 5-3 defeat to Pompey’s fierce rivals Southampton back in August, as well as the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at the start of January.

Nield’s most recent game was West Brom’s 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday and he sent a player off after the final whistle had sounded. Kyle Bartley was shown a straight red card after tempers flared at the full-time whistle.

For such an important game that following is disappointing

In my view our away support has been in decline for years

Swansea took 1800 to Pompey.... and Millwall about 1500 , which I thought was surprisingly low for them

It could be that we take less than both those clubs

The fans that go are amazing .....but where are the rest?

And Pompey brought in a night game this season to us, nearly 2,500.

I’m very disappointed.

We really have lost our support.

It's not really a surprise though, our away support is not what it was - as you've pointed out.

A bit unfair though to compare our numbers there to Swansea and Millwall. Swansea played them at 3pm on a Saturday and Millwall have half the travel time than our fans.

Pompey have great away support and it's their first season back at this level so will always take more than most clubs.

Because of our recent low away support, I actually thought it would be less than 1,000 so not that disappointed.

We are supposed to be a big club

For such an important game we should be selling out the away section wether it's Saturday or midweek

The truth is we are not a big club and our away support is poor .....and it's been poor for several years

Omer Riza Sweating on City player:

Riza sweating on Daland after 'nasty'-looking injury

Omer Riza is sweating on the fitness of Jesper Daland ahead of the Championship clash with Portsmouth tomorrow night.

He was injured in the incident that led to the penalty and it could now see him miss the game against Pompey, meaning Dimitrios Goutas will likely be partnered by either Will Fish or Joel Bagan, unless Riza decides to drop Calum Chambers back into the back line. However, he will be reluctant to do so given how he has flourished in that midfield role of late.

"I've not seen it back, but Jesper said he kicked the ball, not the man, and the man has caught his leg. It's quite a nasty one," the manager said of the penalty and injury incident after the FA Cup win.

Portsmouth have won just one of their last 13 league games against Cardiff City (D6 L6), failing to score in eight of those matches.

Cardiff City are unbeaten across their last six away league games against Portsmouth (W1 D5) since a 1-0 defeat at Fratton Park in January 1974.

Portsmouth have lost just one of their last nine home league games (W6 D2), although they’ve failed to score in their last two, last going three without a goal at Fratton Park in March 2014 against Cheltenham, Burton and York in League Two.

Cardiff lost their last Championship match 7-0 at Leeds United, their heaviest league defeat since losing 9-0 to Preston North End in May 1966. The last Championship side to lose by seven goals before Cardiff were Luton against Fulham in May 2022 (0-7), who followed that up with a 1-0 win over Reading.

Tough game tonight.

Portsmouth put a total of 7 in to Bristol and Jacks without conceding at home. Drew with Burnley, also beat stoke and boro.

Take a point.

Sadly, agree but hoping for a draw too The first 20 minutes are key. Survive this and we may grow into the game. Portsmouth leak goals too. Heart says 1 v 1 Head says 3 v 1. Must, must be aggressive in that first half and not sit back.

Pompey are decent at home but they're not unbeatable.

They only have three points more at home than us.

Will take a draw but would be great if we can get all three.

Tough ask tonight I feel.

Portsmouth are very poor away from home, but at home they are very strong.
However, I do feel Riza has picked the best side available to him to get a result.
