Let's face it, our centre backs and keeper are our weak links. Goutas is probably the best of a bad bunch, but he's erratic and makes mistakes. Daland can look sluggish, plus he can get physically dominated and makes too many mistakes. Fish tonight shows he has a lot to learn and is way too soft to be a good centre back currently. He needs to get his elbows out and be more aggressive.
With our limited options, I see no other option than to bring NG in at centre back. It's a position he's successfully played before and at least he will compete and be a nuisance to stop the opponent. I saw Fish get gently nudged at a set piece tonight and he hit the deck, allowing their player a free run to get a free header. A good centre back would get his elbows out to do enough to block, put off and stop their player. It isn't good enough, it's far too soft.
When it comes to stopping the opposition, I want to see our centre backs kicking, pulling, getting elbows out, blocking off, giving the opponents no space to move at all. I'm fed up with us being far too soft. Their first goal, Goutas switches off, getting sucked into the ball and their player peels off behind his back. Fish then comes across, but he just stands and allows their player to toe poke the ball through his legs. Fish should be seeing the danger, reacting and throwing himself into their player to block the shot. Stoke's second goal earlier this week was similar with again, Fish allowing their player to turn him easily and shoot through his legs. Fish was also caught on his heels and failed to track their runner for their second goal. It's far too soft and not good enough.
We have to be more aggressive, we have to be more difficult to play against, we have to be a nuisance, we have to make the opposing striker(s) know they've been in a game. NG is as good as we have as a centre back for stopping the opposition. He's had his kick up the backside getting benched for his poor performances this season. Time to revive him with a fresh challenge at centre back, I think with our limited options, NG is our best bet at plugging one of our glaring weaknesses.

That's a good suggestion.
When he's played there before, he's done a decent job to be fair.
Struggled at RB this season so this could be his chance to prove he's still good enough.
