Updated:

"Jesper has had his scans. He had his stitches, he had eight stitches in his shin," Riza said of the defender. "Hopefully they will come out on Saturday or Monday, then the healing process of that, however long that takes, it's in an awkward position.

"Yakou [Meite] is back training, he trained today with the squad, fully, he was injured with his thigh, but he is back training now and back in contention to be selected.

"Ollie [Tanner] has got a fracture in the foot, he has been in a boot. He has been in that since he got injured, decisions about whether he will come out of the boot are going to take place in the next few days and then he will start his rehab thereafter, so it will be a bit of time before Ollie is back."

Omer Riza:

“We’ve had Ollie Tanner in a boot as a precaution. He’s had scans and stuff. Hopefully we’ll know the outcome [soon]. He’s injured at the moment and we’ll see how long he’ll be out in the future. We’re not quite sure at the moment.“

“Meite has picked up a slight strain in his thigh. It isn’t too bad hopefully. He should be alright for Bristol City hopefully."

"Isaak Davies will play minutes for the U21s and then be available for first team."

“David Turnbull will hopefully be back at the end of February and Isaak Davies will be back in the next couple of weeks

On Robertson specifically, Riza said: "He has tweaked his hamstring about 10 days ago, after Leeds. It's just precautionary, he is still feeling a little bit there, we will just have to manage it accordingly.

"He has been training on his own this week and we will hopefully be getting him ready for the Plymouth game."

Club Connections

Callum O'Dowda of course used to play for Bristol.

Other players to have played for both clubs in recent years include Aden Flint and Marlon Pack.

Rival Players

Bristol are of course our rivals so they all come under this category.

The Opposition's Manager

Liam Manning was appointed Bristol City manager in November 2023.

He previously had spells in charge of MK Dons and Oxford.

Anis Mehmeti has nine league goals this season.

Head To Head

We have won three out of our last five against Bristol City.

The reverse fixture this season finished 1-1.

OMER RIZA:

"We've got Bristol City at home now on Saturday. We need to get ready for it, we need to pick up points. That's what our focus is now. The fans have really backed us. Today it was hostile, it was hard, and it helped elevate their performance. On Saturday, we'll have a good crowd and get that backing that we normally have.

"Aaron Ramsey has been out for five months, so the plan for him is not to play game after game. We have to manage him accordingly."

I am afraid the big crowd is not going to be what riza thinks if we had kept the momentum going by sorting pompey but sadly we will be loosing more supporters to gardening fishing shopping watching on tv watching paunt dry.
God knows how many have deserted already in this our 125th anniversary year and struggling at the bottom of the division.

More will not be renewing season tickets next season it just keeps spiralling down to the bottom,
most fans can see it with half empty stadiums apart from the annual once a season derby with swans .
I was hoping if we would have done ok last night we may have matched the swansea game in attendance ,
but predict ,21,000 tops.

3 wins in the league since the start of November and it’s February. Riza has us 17th in the table on form since Christmas. Cardiff is in an awful state at the minute and he will relegate us at this rate.

If Riza has to get two wins from Bristol City Plymouth and Hull.

Anis Mehmeti took his goal tally for the season to 11 with a double as Bristol City boosted their Championship play-off challenge with a 2-0 victory over Stoke at Ashton Gate.

The hosts went in front on 11 minutes when Mark Sykes ran onto a precise Scott Twine through ball on the right and crossed low for Mehmeti to shoot home from close range.

The winger’s second goal on 73 minutes was much more spectacular, a scorching volley.

Bristol City are currently 7th in the Sky Bet Championship and have only Won 2 out of their last 7 games.

The Robins have fared much better in home fixtures this season, as their home record ranks fifth in the division, while their away record is 14th.

Last time out, the side drew 2-2 to Sheffield United, as goals from Nahki Wells and Ross McCrorie were enough to secure a point on the road for Manning’s side.

I voted for a draw can’t see us winning Bristol close to top 6 they have more to gain we are now suffering from 12 goals against 4 goals for that’s how brilliant we are remember beating stoke in the cup on penalties we were leading 2-0 just before half time ended up losing 3-2 then pulling back to 3-3 penalties could of gone anywhere Riza is out of his depth

Alex Robertson update given as Cardiff City star has eight stitches after gruesome injury
The Bluebirds boss spoke ahead of the Severnside derby clash with Bristol City -

Alex Robertson will not be available for Cardiff City's Severnside derby clash with Bristol City, however his hamstring injury is not thought to be a long-term problem.

Robertson has been absent from Cardiff's last two games, the FA Cup win over Stoke City and the disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Portsmouth on Tuesday.
The Bluebirds midfield suffered without the former Manchester City midfielder, but manager Omer Riza is hopeful of having him back for the game against Plymouth Argyle a week on Saturday.

Offering an injury update, Riza said: "Everyone is back at the moment barring Alex Robertson. Jesper [Daland] won't be ready, Isaak [Davies] is training, Ollie Tanner. David Turnbull started running this week, other than that the squad is full.
"Behind the scenes, not everyone knows everything about the players. We have to manage them correctly, sometimes they are ill, been injured a long time, sometimes they come off the back of a game and can't play the next one. Aaron [Ramsey] is an important player, he played in the FA Cup and couldn't play the game after.

"He trained today, he will be available, but we will see what selection we come up with."

Following successive away league wins over Preston (3-1) and Norwich (2-0), Bristol City are without an away league win in their last eight games (D4 L4); their longest run since February 2022 (11 games).

Cardiff City are unbeaten in their last four league games against Bristol City (W3 D1), keeping three clean sheets in that time.

After winning on three successive trips to Cardiff in the league between November 2019 and August 2021, Bristol City have lost on their last two visits in the league.

Cardiff are unbeaten in their last four home league games (W2 D2); the Bluebirds last enjoyed a longer run in October 2023 (6 games – W5 D1).

If the team is allowed to play a more attack minded game and not go side to side and boring backwards then we have a chance to win.
For me it's been way to negative for the best part we show glimpses of being a good team.
Stop being to scared to lose grow a pair of balls and go earn a win .
It's all good and well saying the team need you tomorrow turn up etc.
They have a responsibility to play some decent football in front of our fans.Fans will get behind the team if they give us something to cheer about.A must win game so go win it no messing around being safe and scared play some bloody football with passion flare grit and determination with your tales up that's what's needed it ain't all about the fans .
