:bluebird: :bluebird: “ OMER RIZA TODAY UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS “ :bluebird:

Omer Riza:

"The way we played at Portsmouth,We can do better, we can play better than that.”

“You might have to have a fight, but once you've had a fight, you need to be able to start playing your game and applying your strengths to the game and we did not do that, you will see this happen against Bristol.”

Thursday 13th February 2025

Omer Riza after yet another league defeat this time away at Pompey and with only 3 Wins in the last 18 League games, the pressure is now on for a Win.
It’s Bristol City at Home this Saturday:

Alex Robertson out of the game this weekend with a hamstring injury. Jesper Daland, too, after having eight stitches in his leg.

OMER RIZA:

"Everyone is back at the moment barring Alex Robertson. Jesper [Daland] won't be ready, Isaak [Davies] is training, Ollie Tanner. David Turnbull started running this week, other than that the squad is full.“

Ramsey is back in training today, he will be available, but we need to take it slowly.”

"Jesper has had his scans. He had his stitches, he had eight stitches in his shin," Riza said of the defender. "Hopefully they will come out on Saturday or Monday, then the healing process of that, however long that takes, it's in an awkward position.

"Yakou [Meite] is back training, he trained today with the squad, fully, he was injured with his thigh, but he is back training now and back in contention to be selected.

"Ollie [Tanner] has got a fracture in the foot, he has been in a boot. He has been in that since he got injured, decisions about whether he will come out of the boot are going to take place in the next few days and then he will start his rehab thereafter, so it will be a bit of time before Ollie is back."

Omer Riza:

On Robertson specifically, Riza said: "He has tweaked his hamstring about 10 days ago, after Leeds. It's just precautionary, he is still feeling a little bit there, we will just have to manage it accordingly.

"He has been training on his own this week and we will hopefully be getting him ready for the Plymouth game."

OMER RIZA:

"We've got Bristol City at home now on Saturday. We need to get ready for it, we need to pick up points. That's what our focus is now. The fans have really backed us. Today it was hostile, it was hard, and it helped elevate their performance. On Saturday, we'll have a good crowd and get that backing that we normally have.

"Aaron Ramsey has been out for five months, so the plan for him is not to play game after game. We have to manage him accordingly."

3 wins in the league since the start of November and it’s February. Riza has us 17th in the table on form since Christmas. Cardiff is in an awful state at the minute and he will relegate us at this rate.

If Riza has to get two wins from Bristol City Plymouth and Hull.

OMER RIZA:

"We're focused on what we need to do," Omer began. "We're happy with the result against Stoke [City] and disappointed with the result against Portsmouth. You can't be disappointed for too long though. The next game is always coming up.

"It's Bristol City. It's an important game. We've lost two in 11 games. But we know need to be better. We have the capability to do well. The boys are up for it. They know how important it is. They'll be up for it as well. But we're at home at the end. We'll take the game to them.

"They've got quite a patient approach. They've got a 3-4-3 and they're structured in their approach. They've got good individual players, who can get at you 1v1. We need to deal with these problems.

"We'll look to hurt them where we can. It'll be a good game."

Bristol City’s manager is Liam Manning, who has been in the role since November 2023.

Manning’s first management roles came at Ipswich Town and West Ham, coaching within the youth teams, before moving to the United States to work for New York City FC’s academy.

The Norwich-born manager's first senior role came at Lommel SK in Belgium, leading the side to a third-place finish in his first season in charge.

His impressive record in Belgium earned the young boss a move back to England, taking over MK Dons. Manning’s side finished third in his first season at the helm but couldn’t gain promotion to the Championship through the Play-Offs.

Following a poor start to the next campaign, he was dismissed in December 2022 before taking over at Oxford United in March 2023. The following season, the former midfielder left the club to join Bristol City.

Since joining the Robins, he has a win percentage of 33.33%, winning 21 times, drawing, 21 and losing 24.

Bristol City are currently 7th in the Sky Bet Championship and have only Won 2 out of their last 7 games.

The Robins have fared much better in home fixtures this season, as their home record ranks fifth in the division, while their away record is 14th.

Last time out, the side drew 2-2 to Sheffield United, as goals from Nahki Wells and Ross McCrorie were enough to secure a point on the road for Manning’s side.

Joe Ralls:

"It’s a massive game," Joe began. "We’ve been on a good run at home, had some good wins here in the last couple of games.

"It’s one that we’re looking forward to. It’s a derby, a big game and I'm expecting a good atmosphere."

"It’s an important game for us, one we’re really looking forward to and it’s crucial that we go out there and get a win."

City head into Saturday's fixture looking for an immediate reaction to a narrow defeat to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

The Bluebirds skipper continued: “It was disappointing in midweek. We’re giving ourselves a lot to do away from home at the minute, especially with the starts we’re having, it’s making games difficult for us. It slipped away from us on Tuesday in a big game, but we have to put that to bed.

"Luckily, we have a big game that we can focus on. Bristol City at home on Saturday, full focus turns to that and we want to respond.

“We went on a decent run, but you still have to keep progressing. We’ve got to win more games and we know that. We’ve made a lot of big steps over the course of the season and we’re in a better place than we were a few months ago.

"I know we’ve had a few losses in the league against Leeds, which was always going to be difficult, and in midweek, but I think we’re in a good place to be able to play at home on Saturday and produce a good performance."

Rallsy's appearance in midweek saw him break into the top ten of Cardiff City's all-time appearance-makers.

"It gives me massive pride, Joe added. "There are some unbelievable names in there, some that I know very well and some not so well, a little bit before my time.

"It’s just fantastic to be alongside some of those greats that have played for the Club. I’m in illustrious company and really proud to be in there."

To be very honest .I see us going down it's negative football side to side and back to the keeper which just slows it all down and we loose possession.
Unless riza is willing to change and attack with intent I see us relegated.
We have a softness and a slowness to our play which I've seen let us down time and time again.
Stop conceding early goals aswell and go after teams especially at home we have a target man use him play forward not back .win the second ball high up the pitch play with energy move off the ball etc .
Not side to side slowly and slowly back to keeper .
It's now really annoying me to many games we have lost like this it's boring and it doesn't get the fans going either .
Attack more and go win some games

He’s not going to say 3 league win in last 18 games but that’s what it is .if we stop believing then that’s weak we must support the team hard from now till the end every home game needs to be good turn outs were are the fans gone come on in it quick enough whe we were top flight quick enough when we were competing for play offs or automatic promotion this is the reality we go down we may not see championship football for a long time if we can all do our bit and get down support the boys we could be the twelfth man and boy we need it not worth talking when it’s end of season and we in league 1 we have our chance now so get sown and support the team. TANn OUT
