Callum Robinson has emerged as a major doubt for Cardiff Cit

Thu Feb 20, 2025 4:49 pm

Callum Robinson has emerged as a major doubt for Cardiff City’s trip to Plymouth Argyle, while Calum Chambers and Alex Robertson also look unlikely to feature in a triple blow.

Omer Riza:

“ Callum Robinson has picked up a knock.”

“Alex has had the hamstring problem. He has been training but he is still feeling it, so it’s probably a bit too early for him. So we don’t want to set him back," Riza said.

“Chambers is feeling better but he’s been out a week or more, so we need to make sure he is in a place where he’s physically strong again. Potentially he won’t be involved at the weekend.

Perfect reason to start Salech then. Hope it's not a long term injury for Robinson, he is still needed obviously.

Robertson and Chambers being out isn't helpful.

Mannsverk is an automatic starter, then there's a choice of players for one to play alongside him and one in the number ten role.

Such a disappointment to have not been able to field our strongest midfield 3 for so long.

But shows encouraging squad depth to have players like Turnbull, Robertson and Chambers out but to still have Mannsverk, Rino, Ralls, Ramsey and Colwill all available.

Must have strained one of his arms when he was waving them around complaining about the ball not being delivered onto his toe.

What's happening with the constant injuries throughout the squad!?

Seems to be an epidemic? Half premier league clubs got massive amounts of injuries and they dont play as many games! Maybe it's ghe science bods they employ as they seem to see got a niggle in years gone by players carried on but now it's enough to put them out for couple of weeks.... it also looks as if can't return until done mandatory rehab...

It's not exactly a new thing with Robinson though.

Picks up "injuries" quite a lot.

Especially now he has his contract sorted.

Agree with the above Ned .

I know he can be frustrating but he is still 5th highest scorer in championship. And 2nd in goals/mins ratio. So let's not be too harsh on the guy

But six of those goals came over a six game spell, as I pointed out weeks ago when people were desperate for him to have a new contract. So he had a bit of a hot streak which is now over.

As has been alluded to by others, it's very similar to when Tomlin wanted a new contract.

Since his contract extension he has been poor and I'm sorry to say that it comes as no surprise to me.

I find it so strange to focus on this sort of thing.

Regardless of when his goals came, he’s our top scorer and we would be firmly in the shite without his goals.

If we stayed up by 5 goals on goal difference, then those goals would be massively important.

Andy Campbell was never a prolific striker for us, but he scored the goal that got us to where we are.

Crazy how certain stats are looked at under a microscope as opposed to holistically viewing the situation.

If he was contributing more to the team, I'd understand that argument.

But when he's not scoring, he throws his arms into the air and complains about teammates.

He had a good run of scoring but he has a record of having a bad attitude.

Agree that we're thankful for his goals but I don't think it's a coincidence they happened when he was after a new contract.

This really does remind me a lot of Tomlin.

Criticism of Robinson on this Forum is getting ridiculous. As you say 5th highest scorer- and none of those were penalties. A few more and he will have scored more in a season excluding penalties than anyone else for probably ten years at least. He does have a lazy look about him, but that's his style and it can often deceive the opposition. Rather have him in my side than someone who runs around all day but doesn't know where the net is.
