" Riza: It's a good point but we could have won "

Sat Feb 22, 2025 3:32 pm

OMER RIZA:

“We’re disappointed that we had to struggle for 40-45 minutes to get a point. I thought we controlled the game in the first half, but the red card helped them get their tails up. We tried to stop them scoring, but they got the equaliser and in the end, we’re happy to come away with a point because it was difficult.

I said to the players, it’s still a very important point, although we wanted to take three and we potentially could have taken three today. We weren’t bad with how we wanted to set up and how we wanted to play against them. To get a point, with 45 minutes to go, with ten men, was difficult and credit to the boys that played, started and finished the game, the boys that came on, it’s just a shame we couldn’t get three.

We’ve got a game in hand, but like I say, we came today to win the game and it was heading that way. If we’d have scored the second goal, I think we’d have won the game, but the red card put us on the back foot, so we can be satisfied with a point today.

Yousef is doing well, he’s playing with confidence. I know the qualities that he’s got. He just needs to keep working hard and he’s a big part of the squad. He’s got four goals now, which is a credit to him.

Every game is a big game. We know that right until the end of the season. We need to try and get some space between us and the teams below us. We’re expecting a tough game on Tuesday."

He certainly isn’t the guy to take us forward

We need a win and Tuesday is a must win game for us, anything other and I can see Mr Tan starting to panic, he knows and we know that anything below championship football next season will be a disaster for all of us, I only hope that If he does pull the plug on Riza he brings in a proven manager to help us stay in this league.
Purse or Shaw and we will be back to square one.

Makes you think why he didn’t go for a proven manager before riza because riza the cheap option, the board hasn’t showed no ambition for years and us as fans have suffered

There is no way Riza should be in the championship with what he has achieved to date nor Purse, Shaw, or Rasmut but that is what we have. The guy at the top is clueless and its has spread throughout the club

We have a few decent players and we may miss the drop again this season but it is tedious now

I am not advocating Riza leaving as god only knows what would happen but this club is a mess.

I'm clearly in the minority but I thought we played well in the first half and Riza managed to tactically keep us in the game for the 2nd half.

Crazy that people are talking about replacing him already..
