" Jak Alnwick / Ethan Horvath "

Sat Feb 22, 2025 8:56 pm

Jak Alnwick has a hamstring injury after today and will miss the game in midweek.

Omer Riza:

"It's looking like his hamstring. Credit to him for staying on the pitch at the end of the game.

"We'd used all our subs just before because we had tired legs and wanted some freshness to at least maintain a level of causing the opposition a problem.

"But that came just before Jak pulled his hamstring. We would have brought (substitute goalkeeper) Ethan Horvath on but we left ourselves in that position because boys were cramping up."

Well, people like me were calling for Horvath to get his chance and now he will.

I was at Burnley and it was a horrendous day for him.

But I've been impressed with him in the cup competitions and hope he takes this opportunity.

Don't forget he played every game for Luton when they got promoted from this league.

As long as Riza and the team remember that Horvath isn't a ball-playing modern keeper, he is a pre Pep throwback then all id fine. If it gets rolled back to him, smash it up field, no tossing around. Having Salech up top will help as well.

If Jake Alnwick is out for a while are we able to bring in a loan replacement until he returns to full fitness?

I don't think we can as we have 3 keepers registered in the 1st team squad.
