" Cardiff City Striker signs new contract "

Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:07 pm

Cardiff City Football Club has exercised the one-year option in the contract of Isaak Davies, extending the striker’s stay in the Welsh capital until the summer of 2026.

A Bluebird from a young age, Isaak made the journey through the age-grade sides in the Cardiff City Academy before making his First Team debut in October 2021.

Striker Isaak Davies will be 24 yrs old this year, has made 41 appearances / 3 goals

Davies a Cardiff City Accademy player has been with the Bluebirds for 16 years.

The pacey Striker enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with KV Kortrijk last year before suffering a hamstring injury that kept him out of action for a large portion of the current campaign.

Now back amongst the action after making a full recovery, Isaak’s contract has been extended until the end of the 2025/26 season, which will be his fifth senior campaign with the Club.

“I’m really happy to extend my contract for another year.” Isaak said. “Hopefully we can kick on now this season.

“All the boys have supported me throughout my injury. It was a long time, but I’m so glad to be back with them now. It was a long time since I played in front of those fans, and I’ve realised again just how good they are.

"It’s never nice being injured, but I stuck to the process and I’m back playing football, which is what I love.”

It's only a year which says all we need to know about the club's actual confidence in him. Personally, I would have let him go. Injury prone and not proven himself in the Championship.

Uh? It says that the club has plenty of confidence in him, it was a 1 year option in his contract not a new contract.

Some people don't even read things or think of anything but having a go at the club & the players.

Not having a go at the club or the player. He's had a serious injury and the club are giving it a year to see if he fulfills his potential. They know it's a gamble otherwise the contract would be longer.
Personally, I think he's had his opportunity at this level and I wouldn't have taken that gamble. 100% wish him well at hope it works out.

The club has exercised the "one year option". Which part of "one year option" are you not understanding? It's not a new contract but an option for one more year on his current contract that has been taken up.

It’s only a one year option.

Not as if we’ve given him a new long term deal.

Personally think if he stays fit he can offer us something.

People are quick to rule players out.

Tanner was called ‘conference level’ not long ago.
Bagan was said to not be good enough
Colwill gets a lot of stick.

Very good points made.

There is no harm in giving him an extra year in the same terms.

I'm not 100% sure about Davies but there is definitely a player in there. First job for the coaches is to decide whether he's a winger or a striker, because I'm not sure they really know yet.

I think if the club has the option it’s normally a pay rise. Won’t be much more though I doubt.

To be fair you may be right, just guessing. Like you say, won't be a big rise I assume.

Not a youngster, offers nothing. Never broken into first team even on a semi regular basis.

At 24 he should have found his level. Never mind whether the club have confidence in him or not, it shows the level of quality that we are prepared to accept as a club.

Does he meet the Dictators rules? Cheap? Yes, does it mean we don't have to go and buy anyone ( better or not?) Yes. Does it follow his agenda that we are bringing kids through ( whether they are good enough or not)? Yes.

If We want to see change in the clubs fortunes, news like this, tell us one thing.... Zero forward thinking or ambition.

A 'That'll do attitude'

You are so right Jonny,

Davies has never done it as a Striker in the Championship he’s not a kid.

It just shows NO AMBITION:

Look at us giving Kieron EVANS a New Contract then sending him to Newport County

We need better quality next season of we are going to the Premier League like Ned said.

one year extension, hopefully have an injury free season under his belt and will played wide more than likely, never really given the role as the striker for us.

I do think we should of sold when Burnley came in with a £3m offer, but our luck, he would of gone on, scored about 20 goals for them, got promoted and ended up leaving for a few mill more

Breath of fresh air, always is when fit.

Mind-boggling that some of you can't see the merits of giving a low risk 1 year extension to a homegrown versatile player that barely makes a dent in our wage budget.

You need players like this in your squad that are happy to play back up but still have potential to break into the first time.
