HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION

Mon Mar 24, 2025 12:35 pm

Many of us on here are very impressed with the way Craig Bellamy has taken to management, so after our January transfer window where we brought in three decent players, if Bellamy was in charge at the city what do you think our league position would today under him.???

Over a whole season? If so I believe we would be a top 10 side.

Hard to know.

International management is totally different to club management. Bellamy himself has said he couldn't do club management because of the amount of time it takes up.

Coleman did well with Wales, struggled at club level. Capello did well at club level, struggled in the international system.

I'd say we'd be around where we are now.

So Riza's doing ok then?

That's what I was thinking he obviously doesn't rate any manager no matter how good they are... so riza should stay? :o

International is a different beast all together, as evidenced by Coleman’s lack of success in the championship v what he was able to do on the international stage.

You’ve mentioned out window in January which brings its own questions of, how would Bellamy fair in the window, as it’s not something he has had to navigate before.

We probably wouldn’t have seen him bring in Salech or Mannsverk, could have brought in better or could have flopped.

In answer to the question, I feel we would still be bottom half - purely down to the differences in international and club management and lack of experience at this level

We can never tell, Under Tan, not much better than where we are now to be honest, you can't polish a turd.

Safe by now, in my opinion. A born winner, standard setter. No suprise that Wales are over peforming at the moment.

The difference between a good manager and an average manner is that a good manager can get that extra 20% out of players.

A good manager will recognise the best formation for his team (even if it is not his favourite formation) and play it to get a result.

A good manager recognises that there are certain tempos the game needs to be played at. We presently play at a slow tempo and opponents have more time to work out our plan. Bellers plays his game at a much higher tempo and it works

A good manager, when he goes 1-0 up, doesnt sit back on it. He tries to get the 2nd and then the 3rd. An average manner will sit on the 1-0 lead and potentially end up with a draw.

A good manager (like Malky) recognises creating a "feel good factor" amongst the supporters and uses it as the 12th player

I am not saying that we would be a promotion winning side - but, I am confident, within 2 years we would be.

Good Question though!

We've not been that bad since January, Luton is the only game that was a bad result. of The Leeds score line was unacceptable but we were always likely to lose.
Would of Bellamy managed games like Watford and Sunderland differently that would of got us more points?

Paul, this is why i've put out the question. I personally think since the window closed and with the three decent signings we've made there is no way we should only be one point above the relegation zone. Results against Leeds and Luton are totally unacceptable, also Sunderland were there for the taking.

I have no doubt that an experienced manager would have us at least mid table by now. You can't say that players such as Bacuna, Vaulks, Ojo, Pack etc were superior to our current crop of players. A 'proper' manager would have identified our best line-up and tactics and stopped this inane tinkering with the team. If Riza takes us down with the players he has at his disposal it will be nothing short of criminal.
