So many women commentating on the men's game.Again tonight.I turned the volume down.Talking rubbish as far as I'm concerned.

There were three men and two women on the BBC coverage.

Ian Wright often works on the women's football.

If you watch MOTD, it's nearly always three men (although that's changing with the new hosts to be fair).

So I don't buy it.

Agree they are boring when comes to summarising ...as for main commentator find they sound like small boys? Lots of good female reporters though so not completely misogynistic . :laughing6:
Ps I do try find a commentary without a female voice just so can enjoy game :P

Surely the criteria should be who is best qualified to comment on the activity on display. And not about levelling things up to meet a specific agenda.

Sexist or not 5 just shows how much money the BBC waste.

They all seem to think silence is forbidden. If you have nothing to say, just say nothing. Commentary has got worse, not the gender, just he caliber of conversation. May as well speak to Dai down the crown on his 8th pint of Peroni for all the "insight" they give us. They should go to the news at half time, most of us wash the dishes or put the kettle on then, they all talk tosh. Did Ledley or Williams give us anything at all.

The two commentators thought Dan James was Ronaldo, the way they waxed lyrically about him, i thought he did little of any note.

No point going down that route mate, you’ll never win (as sensible as it sounds)

Commentators were terrible tonight. Both of them.

No female has ever played in the men's game. It doesn't matter how knowledgeable they are about women's football, they will never be knowledgeable about men's football.

Women's football and men's football are completely different sports. They're completely different with the pace, intensity, quality and physically. The mindset to succeed in the men's game is on a completely different level to the women's game, with the gamesmanship, media attention, interest and pressure.

No woman should be hired to give analysis on the men's game. They've never experienced playing in the men's game. They have no clue what it takes to succeed in the men's game. They will simply never know.

Likewise, I wouldn't expect to see a man be a pundit for a female dominated sport like netball. I think that would be very disrespectful to all the women who are far more qualified and have far superior knowledge about netball.

This woke agenda for equality is reducing the quality of the product. Why can't we go back to common sense with choosing people on merit? I want to listen to someone who can use his knowledge to give opinions and tell interesting stories based on his past experiences competing in that exact sport. A woman trying to give analysis on a men's game she has never competed in is simply not the best person for the job.

I agree with Tontegs points above. I turned the commentary down as it was distracting me from the game although it's just as easy to "zone out" as it was just noise.

There are some good female pundits for sure (and plenty of godawful male ones) but mine and I would say the majority of punters is to hear males commenting on men's sport and who have played, coached or managed in the mens game. If I was to watch netball or even women's athletics, I would prefer to hear a female for the same reasons.

One day, all this DEI nonsense will be seen for what it is and the most relevant person for a role will prevail, as anything else causes problems as it's simply not the best option.

Where's the bloke, luv?

Less is more....The female co commentator was irratating to the extreme last night. Rob Phillips is sadly
missed at the BBC, now semi retired.

You make a lot of valid points but I totally disagree about the mindset to succeed to be different from the men’s game .
I followed women’s football years before it became trendy and the win mentality was definitely there .
Gender doesn’t define desire .
It’s what’s inside u and believe me , some of the women are very driven to get the right performance and right result.
I now only watch Wales women as im sick of the agenda of forcing the club games down our throats

I’m not against female commentators per se, as there are some good, knowledgeable ones out there; but whoever that was last night during the match was pretty poor by any standards

In my opinion women should not be involved in the men's game.

The best post I’ve read on here in a long time.

I, personally, really struggle to watch a game with a female co-commenter.

I quite like a couple of the presenters like Gabby who I think do a good job but pundits and commentators with their usually screechy voices NO!

Like the guy said ….. where’s the bloke?

Totally agree but unfortunately it doesn’t fit the woke culture that many people see as the popular choice now.

Tnt again only got women commentating and analysing Chelsea game same last night..... yet for mens games they put in a woman with their programme... why do they need a woman at men's games but no men at woman's game? Sex equality missing.

Re: BBC Sexist.

Seems I disagree with most on here and I certainly don't think the BBC are being sexist in favour of women - neither do I think that those that disagree with me are sexist.

I just think some of the female pundits are very good. I'd rather listen to them than the likes of Hinchcliffe, Goodman and (hate to say it) Earnshaw.

I don't agree that because they haven't played in the men's game they shouldn't be pundits for it. They're presenters not pundits, but the likes of David Jones on Sky and some of the male commentators like Peter Drury will often give their opinions - and they've never played the game professionally.

Even at coach level, we have Ramasut who never played professional football.

I'm not saying all female pundits are brilliant. Both commentators the other night were dreadful.

But some of them I think do a good job.
