Joe Allen

It was an awful pass but why did he play it backwards in the first place?

This photo shows he had three options for a forward pass and we were looking for the winner.

An absolute 'mare. Take him up the garden path!

Re: Joe Allen

Wed Mar 26, 2025 12:45 am

He played his normal game which is hold position pass back to defender! Trouble was neither defenders were in a position to recieve ball comfortably...if that was rambo he'd gone forward looking to play it to one of players ahead of him.... did we need a defensive midfielder on the pitch that late in game when we were wanting to win game?

Re: Joe Allen

Wed Mar 26, 2025 7:33 am

Never understood why he was asked to come out of retirement, surely there are younger players we should be bringing through?,irrelavant of him being a jack and many fans giving him grief, for that mistake last night but his time is up now, been a good servant for Welsh football but time to hang up those boots for good

Re: Joe Allen

Jack’ or not, Joe Allen has been a stalwart of the Wales team and was instrumental in their success during the ‘Balennium’ era. Successive managers, now including Craig Bellamy, have seen him as such and with Rambo missing, he is certainly an ‘old head’ most would have called for to assist the new wave

He made an error, he’ll hold his hands up, and as a professional, he will move on. Thankfully, the team around him responded and got an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game, which got a point for a result that was probably a fair reflection of the game overall

Well said.

Some of the vitriol on here at one of the player’s of the 2016 tournament was disgusting.

Re: Joe Allen

Wed Mar 26, 2025 1:40 pm

It was like slow motion when he paused I knew exactly what he was about to do, and it was jaw dropping how predictable what happened next, That picture clearly shoes the options ahead of him. He has been a brilliant stalwart for us and a huge part of our together stronger turnaround from the dark days. Mistake from Bellamy to bring him on, all was ok in there.

Re: Joe Allen

Wed Mar 26, 2025 1:47 pm

Perhaps the worse back pass I have seen. Guess it happens to the best of us.

Never mind as it gives me good ammunition to mock my Jack friends.

Chris, he has been a brilliant player for Wales and his importance in the Euro 2016 campaign can not be overstated - he was up there with Bale and Ramsey in terms of how important he was.

However, he made a big mistake last night that could have been detrimental to our qualification hopes.

I don't believe anyone should be beyond criticism no matter what they did in the past. I have criticised Aaron Ramsey in the past and the same applies to him.

If it was Sheehan who made that pass, he would rightly be getting criticism.

I'm not going to hold back just because it was a player who has contributed a lot in the past.

He deserves his criticism.

Listen to Swansea fans, it sounds like Joe Allen needs to retire - just like Aaron Ramsey.

Yeah except he did it on the field for Wales.

Small minded that. You are better than that Ian.

He’s Welsh when he’s playing for Wales and I don’t see him as a Jack.

I agree and if you're referring to me then I don't think I did get personal about him?

I also agree that they're Welsh when they play for Wales, not Jacks or even ex Jack. Always want to see the likes of Cullen, Allen, Roberts play well for Wales if they're in the team.

Amazes me that some can't put club rivalry aside for a week long international window.

Re: Joe Allen

Wed Mar 26, 2025 7:14 pm

I really do struggle to get behind the jack players it’s just how I feel about it. Maybe international footballs not for me anymore .But that error who ever made it by gifting the goal deserves criticism in such a big game.

Nah not at you buddy. Some clown called him a dwarf, another clown called him a jack b*stard.

Makes people look pathetic to abuse Swansea players. Makes us look small.

No issues with criticism. Abuse is very different.

When Leggy played for us and gave the ball away for a goal against us. What would we think about him getting abuse for being a Cardiff player? Think the jacks or Wrexham or Newport fans were pathetic.

When I see a jack all I see is the swim away gesture used by the fans and players and staff , it’s in reference to chasing vulnerable kids into the sea ffs, just makes me angry and find it hard to celebrate when they score for wales I feel like there gonna bring out the swim away celebration. Happy for you that you love Joe Allen etc but it’s not for me. Thanks for calling me a clown btw.

Re: Joe Allen

Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:55 pm

If 2016 is the gold standard, then he is miles off it and has been since post-COVID. Father time is a bitch and doesn't care about the past, thats history. He was crap for Stoke and our best player when we played them.

I don't care where they play or played their club football, or which team they supported as a boy. That's maybe because i only have an average interest in international football, it's from a bygone era. I don't think there is much of the Cardiff Swansea thing anymore as nowadays most of the red wall support anyone but those two. I bet there'd be more arguments if we had more Liverpool or united players

If any of them did the swim away while playing for wales would be totally different.

You are welcome. A spade is a spade like.

You can say what you like. If I don't agree with someone’s opinion, I can then say mine....that's what happens on message boards.... it's called a debate.

The point I was making was, there are way too many sensitive people on here getting offended over the odd insult.

If you get offended by someone being called a jack b*stard or a dwarf, you must really enjoy match days :old:

T’was the vitriol aimed at Joe Allen I called out. It’s pathetic behaviour from the safety of behind a keyboard for someone who deserves better.

It’s like the vitriol on Facebook aimed at people they don’t know. Surely you don’t think that’s acceptable behaviour. It’s not sensitive or overly sensitive.
