A forum for all things Cardiff City

Omer Riza believes Cardiff City got their pre-season plans wrong this term and it has not helped the awful number of injuries the club's players have suffered throughout the campaign.
The number of lengthy lay-offs - and hamstring problems in particular - has been off the charts for the club this season and has seen a number of players on the sidelines for months at a time.
Omer Riza:
“We have lost the likes of Isaak Davies, Jamilu Collins, Kion Etete, Aaron Ramsey, Jak Alnwick and David Turnbull all have spent months out with hamstring issues, this has cost us.”
"There is a lot of games in the Championship and it leads to fatigue” Riza said.
"I'm not sure we got pre-season right if I'm honest. I would flip it on its head from the way we done it this year. I think we went game-heavy and I wouldn't do that again, I wasn’t in charge then.”
"We lost an element of the physical side of the players early on. That's just a knock-on effect throughout the season and we've had lots of injuries and suffered for it.”

Once again more excuses from Riza, getting his blame in early for if we are relegated.

Riza should have been ditched after the Oxford United defeat.
His win record is appauling, I can't think of another club who wouldn't have sacked their manager with a paltry 20% win return since Christmas.
Riza's appointment could end up costing the Bluebirds millions of pounds and their Championship status.
Take Purse and Shaw with you.

There are plenty of other things to look at to why we are having these injuries than the pre-season.
Our training programme will be the main reason for most of these injuries. Recruitment can't get off scot free as well.
I'm still in the "we are going down camp" and if we do then expect this subject to escalate.

he is right to an extent, we seen it in the first 3/4 months, we were behind everyone fitness wise, our pre-season, and i believe even you annis criticised it as we played WPL and non league teams, and it was mainly 8 under 21s players with 2 or 3 first team players only.

I dont mind this observation and feel like, to some, whatever he says is now wrong by default.
If you take his name away from the statement and read it without pre-conviction; then it adds up. To me at least.
We've had ALOT of injuries over a large spread of players. Changing nothing would suggest you aren't addressing an issue.

This is how I see it.
It seems no matter what he says, people will criticise him for it going by some of the comments there.
Yet if a pundit like Nathan Blake or Robert Earnshaw said this, people would be saying "oh yeah, he's spot on".

Were we not saying we seemed to have a lot of injuries last season as well ? Did you not question on here last season Annis ? If my memory serves us right the injuries at the club have been high for about 2 or even 3 seasons ?
Is it our physio team not up to it maybe ?

Sorry but wasn't Riza a part of the coaching team with Bulut??? So surely he would off said something to him at the time.
