How many players will jump ship…

Wed Apr 02, 2025 2:04 pm

…if we go down?
Would like to think we’d keep most but I’d imagine a few will have written into their contracts that they can leave if we go down. Then again, others may be happy to stay so long as they’re getting paid well. There’s also the probability of us selling a few to raise funds for potential loss of revenue
Ramseys wage will be gone as I’m sure will Goutas, plus a few others but unfortunately I can see one or two out of Salech, Robertson and Colwill going.
What’s everyone’s thoughts?

There will be a massive cost cutting going on with players getting paid off to get off the wage bill. The players you mentioned got to be worth a few million. Then we will replace with lower and non league players. It will be like before Sam Hammam came in , every couple years we may go up to league one but be in a relegation battle. Then the odd relegation battle in league two. All because of the non existent board we have doing fk all to try and stay up. Just living there luxurious lives away from cardiff.

If we went down, don't think there will be huge investment to take us straight back up like Birmingham have done. It'll be done on the cheap once again.

This means the high earners and best players will leave on the cheap - this includes Salech, Robertson, Chambers, Ng, Ramsey, Turnbull, Fish, Robinson etc.

Goutas and Ralls will probably leave whatever happens.

They'll be replaced by cheap League One players.

Even those who recently signed new contracts will probably go.

We may keep the likes of Davies, Ashford, Tanner, Rinomhota etc.

But all of the top players will definitely leave.

Agree with Ned here.

Don't expect any investment from Tan here. He will rely on the Youth coming through. It might work but I doubt it.

Turning to our youth players next season might weirdly be the best thing for City going forwards.
They play with a bit of style, press and move the ball quickly. Some terrific stuff sadly lacking in the prima donna squad.
With players like Lawlor coming through, clearing out Mr Glass, El Cahzi and a few others, we’ll be ok.

You never know, a new young team, a few quid off the asking price and we’ll attract a new owner.

If we were to go down - the club would look to move players on ...

Tend to agree with you unless Purse is involved then its straight to League 2 and being beaten by Newport County :bluebird:
